Lucy looks like a whole new woman. Of course hair and clothes have that effect.
Lighting is tough to nail down. It can change the whole tone of the scene, enhancing colors but concealing details. There's also the matter of render time versus pic output.

lray for portraits and scenic stuff, probably yeah. For my wrestling pics, not yet at least. Time will tell.
My pc has a top of the line i7 cpu but my Nvidia is mid range. Not only can I do this in 3delight faster I can also cancel/fix restart. lray when I try to cancel (good enough) I have to wait 5-10 min before it responds, which is *very* tedious. May be a way to sort that, alas not found it yet.

Your art is always good, and she makes for a very inviting test subject.
Just remember, if your dabbling in the new stuff grows too frustrating, your older-style stuff is still quite compelling - and quite good.
