How do you make it that your pencils are so well covering? With mine you can always see the paper...

Ah, I guess with more pressure I'd have the same result (I'm using relatively smooth paper (120g/mΒ²), too)
But then the shading would be difficult (had the problem, when I tried to get my blue more covering withouth using many layers...)... I've gotta try it next time. Thanks for the answer ^.^

When I do heavy covering like that its usually very hard to put second layer of pencil on top so I do shading first with darker color and then draw with lighter on top of it, since light colors aren't as opaque as dark ones shading is still visible after that.

I do shading mostly after the coloring with a graphite pencil... Maybe I should try the technique you mentioned, too.
