Something certainly wasn’t right.
It started with his hands and feet, an itch that just wouldn’t quit. He briefly considered that perhaps his rural habit of running around barefoot and touching plants he didn’t really recognize may be a bad idea.

Nah! That couldn’t be the reason. He quickly pushed the idea out of his head, he was sure this was just a simple itch. He adjusted his hat and sat down in the sun, with a bit of straw to chew on. The boy did his best to put the nagging itch out of his head, unsuccessfully however.

He scratched his left hand again, and when he looked at he rubbed his eyes to make sure he’d seen what he saw. Brown hairs thick and wiry clumped together at the base of his knuckles. He could even see them grow as he stared. The same itchy sensation had spread to his right arm, and left foot, where the same dark fur was appearing.

The country was supposed to be simple, not weird.
