Ta-da! Done is record time! My submission for the contest at .Drawn and inked by hand on 11"x14" bristol, scanned, and painted in photoshop with a tablet. Yay!
I chose to stick to earthy colors. The game seems too dark for a pink princess. The mood just doesn't fit pink, so I chose that earthy green instead.

Definitely! It makes a change certainly, a good one at that. Plus she looks better suited to our countryside boy, Link now (oh oh Zelink fan alert!

But yes, I love the new Link design for the new game...thought it looked kind of, hmm, how to put it, old worldish? Lord of the Ringsish? So Zelda needed to match. I was a little sad when they released the design for Zelda and she was still wearing pink...

erm, where was I? lol. Ah I see where you got your inspiration for this image, I thought she reminded me of Eowyn a bit... Yeah the new game definitely takes some of its ideas from LotR, but then a lot of the fantasy genre does...
Yeah, you think she could do without the pink for once (although I'm sure she was wearing red in AoL... But I've never completed the stupid thing, cause its too hard, lol. So I'm not sure.). I mean blue makes more sense anyway... Ganon's got the orange/red, Link the green, so logically.... Zelda= blue.
Plus I love blue, so I'm biased

yeah definitely agree with you there... I always find it hard to locate an image of someone doing the exact same pose as what you see in your mind's eye, always a pain. Can't wait to see the finished thing...

heh, again I agree... Only because I suck at painting, full stop. I much prefer to use pencils and coloured pencils for drawing... perhaps one day I'll try and pick up the brush again...

I definately agree that the latest game is no place for a pink princess, the earthy green is a good choice. My only ...critisism? would be that the face seems weird to me. Though, not like I'd know how to fix it, you're obviously better than me, I'd say it's just a matter that everyone has their slips. The outfit is...really appropriate, it might be the best to integrate into the new Zelda game.

i think you did a wonderful job. the green-golden color sheme works surprisingly well- kudos on getting rid of that god awful pink dress! 
...i had my submission ready but my scanner's being a bastard and won't work. oh well there goes my chance of participating. ._.

And the skin...yeah, that bothers me, too. I tried to fix it but it botched the contrast and lighting and with the short time I had, I decided to screw the skin...bah...I'm not 100% happy with this one. I still may play around with it.
