EDIT: Answers Added!With little in the way in terms of non-comic ideas as of late, I decided to test my art style skills with 's 100 Face Challenge meme!
For this particular grouping, I went with cartoon characters that have had an impact here or there on my artwork, my characters, or my comic delivery in general, limiting the guidelines to characters with either a movie, TV show, or internet series. Along the way, I realized a few things:
-I was definitely more of a Cartoon Cartoon kid than a Nicktoon kid.
-Ducks were/are awesome
-I only just recently got into more serious-toned cartoons.
-The 60s and 90s ruled. There are certainly excpetions to that rule, of course.
-I like some anime. Get over it.
So, without further ado, have a fun time identifying all the characters here!

I think the top 40 here really do represent a semi-accurate top 40 for me (Sonic would be much lower, but I gave him credit thanks to the awesome Genesis games). In terms of other shows that I missed, the only ones that pop in my head at the moment animation-wise would be Beavis & Butthead, Ant & Aarvark and maybe the Jetsons. I'm pretty wide-ranging when it comes to tv shows.

now it makes me want to do this. I used to watch 90's cartoons and some 2000's cartoons, there was some 80's cartoons. It was a bit of mix of American, Cartoon Network, Warner Brothers, MGM, Hanna-Barbera and Hasbro. British were mainly Cosgrove Hall (they created Danger Mouse and the studio was in Manchester and close to the university, sadly it closed but a new man and the son of Cosgrove, said it is coming back soon and be mainly based in Manchester). Don't ashamed of watching anime, it could be worse, My Little Pony, I do like it but it was when it Hasbro in the 80's, not the overrated series anymore.

And while I may not be a fan of MLP, I have seen two full episodes and came away with the opinion that it's more overhyped than it is really overrated. While the big eyes put me off to the style, the core of the story and characters are just fine by me (better than loud obnoxious and rude characters after all!)! Consider this a preview of the 2 cents I'll give later on the subject in a journal!

I grew up in the 90's and 2000's, so my cartoon tastes were around these eras, except after 2005. I was no such thing in the 80's. I like Adventure Time, it has the geeky references, I know it is overrated but I like it better than ponies.
I watched up half of Series 2, I couldn't really understand why hype over this show, yet I can't understand hype on other fandoms, even Star Trek. I prefer the 80's G1 as I grew up with it, not over hyped (but was slightly overrated when I was younger but by 4-7 year old girls) and much darker, the only thing I prefer for G4, is the voices. I prefer ponies over porn any day, I'm less ashamed of them than this. I dislike G3, I tried to watch it but it is way sugary, it will rot all your teeth and ugly looking, the babies are the worst.

It seems to cartoon lovers like us, new always equals overrated for good shows. Especially with shows aimed for kids, it's nearly impossible to replace them with one's childhood favorites. Adventure Time is a good show that combines the mature with the crazy/silly, and I certainly wish it was on when I actively watched cartoons.
As for the Ponies, I only know the current version. I'm in the same boat with you on the art style, as it's too cutesy for me. But I will defend its humor and message, as giving a kids show an innocent spin is something that seems to be lost with shows that look more towards Family Guy for inspiration.

I don't know if you get the Cartoon Network spin off channel, Boomerang, it used to have 60's cartoons then years later 90's spin offs of classics. Yet had 80's cartoons on Cartoon Network when it was school time. Now like Cartoon Network, it is boycotted, full of live action and recent made cartoons such MLP as it was meant for classics. There is a channel called Cartoon Network Too, which has the 90's golden year cartoons. Also Cartoonito, aimed at very young children. Nickelodeon, has gotten worse too, the classics that got cancelled never returned and SpongeBob has endless marathons, I do like the show but it is just so annoying.
I didn't mind the humour and it is nice to see females involved in slap stick, I just find the story line a bit cheesy. Shane, Andrew and Jimmy really hate these ponies, like it was more than anything in the world. Derek finds it the new sonic. I just find it over hyped, it nearly like a religion (if your religious, I'm sorry if I offended you).
BTW, the Olympics have been posted and couple of characters you know have made it to the medals and the losers in the swim round lost their trunks.

I guess part of me is a female but is tomboyish geek, I'm not into fashion, make-up and squeal over Justin Bieber, yet I have David Tennant.
You could avoid the Internet all together, at least it not outside the Internet, Justin Bieber is highly unavoidable, every girl wears a t-shirt of him. Yet, I'm seeing ponies, but in Tesco and little girls wearing 80's classics.
