What did you do for the inside? Did you put any of the varnish on the inside to seal it? Also, how easy is it breath with it on? I've read that some people have had that problem, but they weren't using a mask for the base like you are (which I think is a great idea!).

This is neat and it came out really nice. I looked up how Venetian masks are made and they use a wool blend paper that comes out really smooth. It cant be sourced in the usa last I checked but you might try a linen paper to get a smoother base mask that would be gesso friendly. Also if sealed properly you could use this to make a negative or positive mask mold with plaster of paris to make future copies faster. I'm definitely going to try this out this weekend.

Cool! My dorm is hosting a haunted house with a 5 Nights at Freddy's theme for one of the rooms, and this will be perfect for the props!

Gesso is generally sandable, so I would suggest sanding it a little before painting. It creates a more professional look.ย

What a fantastic idea using a regular partymask! Saves you the trouble of making a perfect fitting mold for your face. Thanks a lot! I'll use this method for my upcoming Menma cosplay if you don't mind c: [link]
