They're generally known as 'Guardsmen', Make no mistake, these are not paid actors, these are actual serving soldiers in the British Army, Most of whom have already served in Afghanistan, The guards regiments being among the oldest and most respected in the entire army. And the weapon they carry is live and loaded.
As for the Regiments, There are the Coldstream Guards, The Grenadier Guards, The Welsh Guards, The Scots Guards and the Irish Guards, My guess would be that these are grenadier guards.

Thanks a lot. I saw some very-very young guards in similar clothes in the Tower - I expect those guards couldn't have been in Afghanistan...?

There are the yeoman warders who are retired soldiers in the British Army, Who have reached the rank of at least Sergeant-Major. But the other guards everywhere, At buckingham palace, tower of london etc, have all probably been to Afghanistan. And they have been fighting for as long they have existed, the grenadier guards fought at waterloo, The United States, All over the british empire and beat napoleon's imperial guard.

Their Grenadier Guards. Not sure what kind though, probably "the Queen's" or "Royal," if the name is predictable.

Örülök, hogy tetszik. Bevallom, én elsősorban azért mentem el Angliába, hogy kicsit átérezzem, milyen is Laurence szülőhazája. No meg Harryé, persze.
