Description ...without Temeraire. I simply couldn't squeeze a dragon of his size into the picture.

FULLVIEW for details!

Also, allow me to shamelessly advertise my second Temeraire fanfic, based on the craziest fanfic idea I've ever had: [link]
You surely remember when in book one Jane told Laurence that Laurence too might be asked to provide a few officers for the Corps, but he had to wait till his dragon turned ten. Well, in this fic Temeraire has definitely turned ten, and Laurence's prudishness takes a brutal beating.

I'm currently re-reading the series, and today I decided I finally might be bold enough to say that I like Temeraire better than Harry Potter. Wow. I never thought that would happen!

A modern, beach version of the character sheet can be viewed here: [link]

And a Temeraire/Disney crossover pic of these characters can be found here: [link]

Ooh.. I don't know how much the dutch publisher wants to publish in one year. I do know that the publisher is very fast in translating, because I bought Brisingr (third book of Inheritance books) 1 month after it was released in English. (in dutch) So, I don't think it takes a long time here in Netherlands. I hope that the Hungarian books are coming soon

One month after the English publish date? Wow, our translators are NEVER this quick!

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-08 20:39:15 +0000 UTC]

I think they put a lot of people on that translation, because the Inheritance circle is more known than Temeraire. But Temeraire is much better

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-09 17:35:17 +0000 UTC]

Agreed, I only read the first Eragon book and it bored me to death and I thought it was a total rip-off of Star Wars and LotR, so I never read the other books in the series and I do not intend to read them, ever.

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-09 17:50:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. I liked them, not anymore. I rather have Robin Hobb, Temeraire and Lotr than Eragon. The movie was terrible of Eragon, if you didn't see it, then you're a very lucky person

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-09 17:54:44 +0000 UTC]

I saw it, and funnily I thought the movie wasn't as bad as the book.

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-09 18:50:10 +0000 UTC]

I thought the movie was terrible XD. I don't think they should make a movie about Temeraire. It would mess up my whole imagination xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-09 20:28:05 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, probably. But even if they make a movie, I hope they won't choose Russel Crowe to be Laurence, or I'll run out of the world screaming!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-10 11:40:49 +0000 UTC]

Yeah me 2. Russel Crowe is so not Laurence XD. I don't really know a good actor for Laurence. If they're going to choose Orlando Bloom or something I would be screaming too

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-10 12:27:06 +0000 UTC]

OMG, Bloom would totally SUCK as Laurence! Crowe would still be better than Bloom, even though I cannot image Crowe as L either. Have you seen the TV series Robison Crusoe? Well, the guy in it (who plays Robinson) could be Laurence. He's around 30, fair-haired, blue-eyed and VERY SEXY!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-11 12:33:02 +0000 UTC]

I didn't see them. I don't think that they have ever been on the Dutch television. So I googled Robinson Crusoe . Yeah he could be Laurence . You know who would suck as Harcourt, Keira Knightley. I would never ever Want to think of that XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-11 14:19:56 +0000 UTC]

Heavens, don't even mention that, I dislike Keira so much!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-11 14:49:15 +0000 UTC]

Yeah me2. I only like her in Pirates, but that's because I like the movie XD. I don't know who would be the perfect Harcourt. I hope they don't make a movie with wrong casting.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-12 06:54:53 +0000 UTC]

I can't think of a good actress for Harcourt either, but as she isn't a really important character, I wouldn't mind if her role was given to someone not so really good. I only really care for Laurence's casting, as he's the main character. Well, perhaps even Jane, as she is more important than Harcourt (at least I think so). And I hope they aren't going to leave out Emily, she's my favourite female character in the series. As for Temeraire - hopefully they will make a really good CG of him.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-12 19:52:52 +0000 UTC]

Yeah your right. Harcourt is one of my favorite female characters, I don't know why . I think they should cast Laurence with a very good actor, he's important. Screw up the main character then you screw up the movie. I hope they make Temeraire like he is described in the book. Black and beautiful

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-13 06:40:02 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Industrial Light and Magic should make the CG effects, and not some other studio becuase ILM is by far the best. Harcourt is interesting, to say the least. I for example adore the way she announces her pregnancy. With total stoicism. LOL.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-14 10:35:04 +0000 UTC]

I didn't know that she became pregnant. I'm stuck in book 2. Can't find it, so can't read . Terrible. I've got now a very strong feeling to search for it.. *searching for book*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-14 12:45:24 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I didn't know you haven't read books 3-5 (if you've mentioned it, then sorry, it escaped my mind). In book four Harcourt is really cool, much cooler than in books one and two, I think. In book three she doesn't even appear, and in book five she's barely around (as she gives birth around that time and isn't fit for fighting for a while). I'm not spoiling more of it for you, I hope you get to lay your hands on the rest of the books soon.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-14 13:06:17 +0000 UTC]

Doesn't matter . I found book 2 , and at home i've got books 1-3, but i'm going to buy 4 and 5 when I'm done with them . In book 2 I'm not at part 2. They're on that ship or something . I know that another Celestial or something is coming, I really like the dragon parts

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-17 06:20:09 +0000 UTC]

The dragons are nice, but the other Celestial is not nice at all.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-21 11:23:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, you're right. I read Throne of Jade, so I wasn't very busy with da . Lien is evil , but Mei is cool just like his mother .

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-23 10:57:31 +0000 UTC]

I couldn't tell anything about Mei, she's barely around to get to know her properly and don't even count on her in later books, so does not appear again. If I had to choose a really cool female dragon, then it's Iskierka, coming in book three. She's horribly annoying, but also very funny and adorable. You will like her, I think!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-23 13:09:09 +0000 UTC]

She's that red dragon right? i'm busy with the third book now, but I didn't read something about Iskierka yet

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-23 17:12:29 +0000 UTC]

Yes, she's the red one. She only appears around the four-fifth of book three, but you'll get to see some of her in book four, and LOTS of her in book five! Also, we can be a hundred percent sure that she will be around in book six as well.

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-23 17:24:43 +0000 UTC]

Now you're getting me curious . Just guessing; is she Granby's dragon?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-23 18:03:20 +0000 UTC]

Yep. And a possible future love interest for Temeraire. At least, I'm hoping he will grow to like her that way...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-23 20:47:35 +0000 UTC]

That will be fun Granby and a dragon . Is she a Arabian dragon or something? Because in book 3 they're going to Arabia or something..?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-24 06:54:34 +0000 UTC]

She's Turkish.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-24 13:36:22 +0000 UTC]

So she's one of the eggs out of the Turkish Empire which Laurence and Temeraire have to bring to England?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-24 13:42:53 +0000 UTC]

Yes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-24 13:45:12 +0000 UTC]

Great Let me guess again; While Temeraire, Laurence and crew brought the eggs to Britain, one egg hatched and that egg was Iskierka?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-24 17:15:33 +0000 UTC]

Yep. She was a little impatient, LOL. She's always impatient.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-25 13:59:01 +0000 UTC]

The English version of the book is difficult to read, so Im waiting untill the dutch one is in the library. I'm going to read the Dutch book first then the English one. She's a firebreather right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-25 18:13:36 +0000 UTC]

Yes, she's a firebreather. I understand what you mean about the English version, it sounds a bit archaic with lots of over-complicated and extremely long sentences, indeed hard to follow if English isn't your native language. I like to believe that my English is quite good, but the original English version is a little hard even for me, especially when Novik is going on about naval and military stuff! Now imagine my mother with a much much worse English than mine trying to read book four in English! Poor mum, she was practically suffering! But eventually she read the whole book, although she said she did not understand half of it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-25 18:25:38 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'm following Bilangual school. I have the more than the half of my subjects in English. But I'm only in third year, so Its still hard for me 2. I read the first and second one in English, but the third is kind of killing in me . Sometimes I'm just reading things but then I dont understand it. So I'm still waiting for that book in Library. Hope that I can read it soon

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-25 19:25:30 +0000 UTC]

I read the first two in Hungarian, then had to read the third in English because in March the third wasn't yet published in Hungarian. So, do you think the text of the third is more difficult than the first and the second? I can't really imagine that... I'm currently reading the first in English, but I've only reached its half, and so far it doesn't seem either easier or harder than book three.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-25 19:44:06 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, maybe I grew tired of the English and wanted them to read in dutch. I don't really know. I don't get the book anymore if I read further. I'm just going to wait for the one in the library.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgiVega In reply to MsJDenver [2009-08-25 20:05:16 +0000 UTC]

I liked the Hungarian version better too. I mean, the Hungarian version of the first two books, as I haven't yet read the third in Hungarian (although my mum bought it months ago...)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MsJDenver In reply to AgiVega [2009-08-25 20:08:24 +0000 UTC]

I read slower with the English version. (I read Throne Of Jade in English first then in Dutch) and I really really want to go through the book fast, but still slow enough to understand what happens and in English you have to read carefully to not miss something.

Pretty cute overall... but Roland the elder seems fractionally too much of the "temptress" in her pose

I always saw her as the temptress. After all, she seduced Laurence in book one...
