Wow O_o.... I'm conflicted right now because I'm mad at Loghain for what he did but I know not everyone is truly bad/evil. Anyway this is romantic! I love it! I just started playing Dragon Age Origins so hopefully I'll fully understand Loghain's intentions.

I must have played DOA over 20 times and every time ends up with my Warden or Alistair hacking his treacherous head off.

I've seen the clips on YouTube. It's cool that he likes dogs and everything, but he's still a Complete Monster.
Especially for a mage, seeing as how he and Uldred try to destroy the Circle.
Murdering Cailan, trying to poison Eamon, selling the elves into slavery, killing Cousland's parents with Howe... As well as all the pointlessly cruel little things he does like imprisoning Alfstanna's brother.
I do think he's an excellent villain though. Bioware make you care about their characters, whether you love them or hate them.

Wait what? The Circle??? Why would he do that? He thinks, and I quote him, that the mages are "Ferelden's best Weapon". He wants them out of the clutches of the Templars and in his army fighting darkspawn, not dead. Even Wynne has to admit that the Circle thing is not his fault.
He didn't murder Cailan, the darkspawn (and Cailan's own stupidity) did. And if you poison someone, well, doesn't mean you necessarily want them to die. Loghain wanted Eamon out of the picture for the while, not dead. The source for that one is a post on the BioWare forums by D. Gaider, so you can take that as you will. Personally, I wouldn't mind Eamon dead. try to question him a little about making Alistair king, he'll show his true colours then. But only a few actually do that.
