Description

While other riders and their mounts entered on to the bridge, Tommy thought it best to give Alucard a well deserved break after the long ride. He could fell the massive black stud's fatigue in the stallion's steps and the way he kept mouthing the bit. Leaning forward in the saddle he gave the thick muscular neck a strong pat as he pulled gentle on the reigns to guide the horse out of the path to the side as he spoke "Let's take a breather." In response Alucard dropped his head low to the ground and heaved a sigh of relief as is saying "Thank god!"

Once in the shade of large tree, Tommy quickly dismounted and set to work releasing the girth strap, then pulling the saddle and saddle bags off the back of great black stallion. Placing the tack on the ground he gave the strong back of the black stallion a well deserved rub that Alucard willing accepted and leaned into as he snorted with pleasure. "Feels that good huh?" Tommy smirked as he moved to the head of the stallion and slipped the bridle gently over his ears and held a pale hand at the mouth as the bit was slowly released from the maw. Alucard in response to being free from the contraption shook his head and blew a small puff of air from his nostrils. Tommy could only chuckle at the reactions of the horse moved off to place the bridle with the the rest of tack.

Alucard followed the vampire nickering behind him and smacking his lips. "Hungry eh?" He asked the stallion with out looking back at him. In response the stallion extended his neck and with his large head gave the vampire a hard shove in the back, causing him to stagger forward a step. "Okay, okay..." Tommy muttered as he knelt down by the saddle bags, "just give me a second would you... Hey!" He opened the saddle bag only to have Alucard promptly lean over his shoulder and thrust his head into the bag and begin routing around in search for a meal. "Fine help yourself." Tommy grumbled as the horse removed his head with his treasure, a large red apple. Tommy couldn't help but laugh as Alucard pranced away head held high with his sweet treasure. He pick a lush patch of young grass at the base of a near by tree and laid down as he crunched away at the red apple.

Tommy smiled as fished a canteen of water for himself out of the saddle bag and stood up, all the while keeping his eye on the black horse. as he munched on the apple and then moved to chew at the tender grass shoot where he laid. "Enjoy your rest." He spoke calmly as he turned his back to the horse and proceeded to the bridge.

Tommy's stride were quick and strong and it only took him a few moments to reach the edge of the bridge. He unscrewed the cap of the canteen and raised to his lips taking a long drink. He sighed a heavy sigh of satisfaction as he lowered the canteen and wiped his mouth with back of his hand and then screwed the lid of the canteen back into place. Crimson eyes scanned the bridge and the large void below it, before travelling back up to the horizon in the distance.

How long he stood there wasn't clear, but at some point the black horse had gotten up from his rest and moved to stand beside his vampire rider. A low nicker was given as Alucard reached out with his massive head and laid on Tommy's left shoulder. A smile came the face of the vampire as reached up with his left hand to tender stroke the face of the black stallion. With out looking over to the horse he stated simply "So this is the bridge..." His words trailed off in thought as warm breeze blew up from the cliff's edge to tussle the his black short kept hair and play in the mane and tail of the horse.

Alucard pulled his head away as he breathed heavy and moved forward to wards the bridge. Tommy turned his head to watch as the black stallion lowered his great maw to the golden bridge and began to snort and sniff at the faintly glowing structure. Tommy grined lightly as he watched the stallion a moment more as the horse pawed at the bridge before looking back to the horizon. "I'll give you few more moments before we start off again. Sound good?" Alucard snorted, but whether it was in response to Tommy's question or to his own reaction to the bridge was for the stallion alone to know.
