Description We have a few of these fawn to almost pure leucistic squirrels residing in the neighborhood. These two were chowing down on my bird feeder so I figured I would photocapture the fawn one, something I've been trying to do since we moved here.

And suddenly, there was a second hanging on for dear life as the non-existent hurricane winds bellowed. XD

I love squirrels so much ;.;
Blonde-squirrel is hella cute! X3 I wish we had pale squirrels here But we do have alot of melanistic ones running around everywhere o.o Less than half, but still substantial, pecentage of all squirrels i've encountered in this area are black.
s'weird :S

I have YET to see any melan's here, and I'd love to. The white/blond ones aren't overly common, but it's not much of a surprise to see them in this area. :E

I think that the fawn squirrels are genetically telekinetic and are predisposed to throwing their lesser kin around.

Ok that was retarded.

sweet a discussion about squirrel genetics! perhaps the albino squirrel is the offspring of two parents with recessive alleles! jk, i dunno what i'm talking about, but that flying squirrel is my new hero now.... bad ass capture!

What a strange mutation! I've seen Eastern Gray Squirrels come in standard gray, black, albino, and brownish hues, but I've never seen such a fawn-colored morph before. So cool! Thanks for sharing.

I think the grey one is just a normal-coloured squirrel. The off-white one, however, is the unusually-coloured individual.

Grey squirrels do tend to have variation in their colouring, however.

Ah. I was reading it as you saying that both colours were "unusual".

Ahkahna In reply to the-striped-fox [2008-10-13 19:44:36 +0000 UTC]

No, the Two Odds are the fact that we have rare colored fawn + rare hurricane squirrel in one shot XD

...to be followed up by a flying grey squirrel, who wishes that evolution would catch up with it and give it a built-in parachute before it lands?

Awesome action shot, and serious "wicked" at the colour of the fawn fella; I've never seen that colour before. It's gorgeous! I'd totally try to catch it. >_> No idea what I'd do with it then. But I'd do it anyway.
