OMG How many people have asked me if I have a reference for Aechirae xD So sorry it took such a long time ^^ the species ideas just have to come to me at random moments
thinking about it doesn't get me anywhere <3 so I sometimes have to wait a while for the species concept to pop into my head xDAnyway, hope you like them ^^ I'm pleased with their concept

I've got a couple questions. :3
What's the longest they can be?
And how old can they become?
Can they be gender-neutral?
And what happens if they can't find their 'prey' anymore?

Sure ^^ I love answering questions about my species x3
Largest of them range between 150-200ft but the longest that ever lived is 247ft long.
They are ageless, no one really knows how old they become since none have never been seen to have died of old age.
They are technically gender-neutral but usually adopt one of the gender roles to make identification easier. The factors that determine which one is taken are things like the tone of the Aechirae's voice but they usually adopt whichever Gender the Prey refers to them as.
They can sense their prey and so if the prey is killed by external means they will be able to feel it. In some cases if the act of crime was cruel enough and the personality of the Aechirae is correct they shift the status of 'Prey' to any immediate family of their original prey. If the Prey chooses to remain on land so that the Aechirae cannot reach them the Aechirae will plague and terrorize the nearest coastline or village ports to the area they live. In some cases the Aechirae will speak with the locals telling them that if they can find and bring them their Prey then their suffering will end.
