Description At last, the colored version! Doing all the feather detail took a lot longer than I expected, but it was worth it. Enjoy!

Ah, you know, I think I called him out on twitter for it and never heard anything :"D It's my most stolen artwork and idk how to feel about that, it's not even the best feathered raptor image!

...Socool. Those feet are freaky; they almost look backwards--yay dinosaur feet

Haha, well a lot of people think birds' knees are backwards-- it only fits that their feet should be too...? ^^

Glad you like it though! ^^

Silly people not knowing bone structures! Kind of freaky though when you look at skeletons like that. Mammals more so than birds and reptiles, but they look so human... Bat skeletons, especially, they're almost identical to a human's with weird feet and freakishly long fingers.

Amazing work, Sam!!

I'm doing a Jurassic Park review for my YouTube channell (in italian lenguage, of cours). In the end of the video i would show the 90's version of Velociraptor and the modern conception of the same animal. Can i use your illustration? It will be shown only for three seconds, and i will put your name (and eventually the link of your gallery) in the video.

I hope you give me the permission to do this, this illustration is one of the best Velociraptor I ever seen here on DeviantART!

Wow! I feel honored you think so! Thank you! ^^

I think it would be okay to use my pic in your video; and even though I don't understand any Italian, I'd still like to see it when you're done! ^^

Hello Sam! Thank you!
Here the video: [link]

Your picture appears at 9:00.
unfortunately I couldn't show it for more time, Youtube gives to the youtubers only 10 minutes! :/

This is my favorite digitally colored picture of yours. I love the white on the snout followed by the black... I dunno, it really appeals to me!

Keep it up!

Aww, thank you! I'm really happy with that coloration as well-I've consistently put it on most of my recent Velociraptors. ^^

Aww, it's so cute. It reminds me of the roadrunners at a zoo I like to visit.

Ahrkeath In reply to BaronOBeefDip [2009-04-28 20:15:31 +0000 UTC]

Oh good! I didn't have a picture of a roadrunner at the time, but I was thinking of it as far as coloration for Velociraptor. They both live(d) in desert conditions, so I thought it would be best. Thanks! ^^

And disembowels you with those nasty claws. Or has that theory been discarded? I'm not terribly up-to-date on my dinosaur behavior knowledge.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ahrkeath In reply to KaitoAozora [2011-05-30 00:34:50 +0000 UTC]

Heh, I think there's still little doubt that the claw was a weapon, but to what extent it could actually slash through tough dinosaur hide is unknown. They'd still be pretty nasty wounds though, just punching through, and the jaws were very powerful as well. ^^ Hope that helped!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KaitoAozora In reply to Ahrkeath [2011-05-30 01:13:14 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I see--I heard there was some debate about whether or not the claws would be blunted by the dinosaur's running around, in which case they would be much less effective as weapons.

Idunno if that went anywhere, though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ahrkeath In reply to KaitoAozora [2011-05-30 06:09:16 +0000 UTC]

Well, we actually have footprints now that show they really did hold the claw up off the ground, keeping it from getting dull by walking. So obviously keeping it sharp was important to them for some reason! ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KaitoAozora In reply to Ahrkeath [2011-05-30 13:36:21 +0000 UTC]

Of course! And what other reason for having a sharp pointy bit could you have? (Aside from being cool, but dinosaur biology ≠ Mary-Sue behaviorism.)
