Description Alright, here's the deal. Earthbound is the greatest RPG ever. Period. Don't try to argue that with me, I won't budge. This is a concept I've been thinking about for a long time, they came out with Mother 3 in Japan... but it's not really a direct sequel to Mother 2. They ended Earthbound in such a way as to make you think that there would definately be a sequel. Hell, there was even a sign in Fourside that said that a meeting was going on about Earthbound 2. So why was the plotline of ness dropped? It's bull s&*t. Anyway, enough of my rant, this is an older Ness who has become extrememly powerful and even has a hard time controling his own psychic abilities. I was trying to think of a darker setting for Earthbound that fell along the lines of 'Galerians: Ash' Where Ness becomes a sort of Anti-Hero but not by choice, it's just that he has trouble controlling the limitless power that is his mind. The 'duel wielding flying bats' thing kinda came along after KH:II and the whole 'final form' thing. Anyway, that's about it. I wanna color this as soon as I can, but unfortunately right now I can't get a Wacom from the School because it's one in the morning. So I'll just wait until tomorrow. Until then, enjoy the black and white version. Oh, and anyone who actually read this entire thing, congrats, I don't usually rant on about stuff when posting a deviation. Here's a special kirby dance for your attention: <( '' )> (>''< (>'')>

It would be an awesome story, I mean he becomes so powerful while just a kid, a story of him just losing it would be win.

Yeah Earthbound/Mother is such a neat series.(Though I'm more of a Final Fantasy fan but that's another story...9_9) It's too bad that Mother 1+2 and Earthbound 2/Mother 3 didn't come out on GBA in the US...

Yes. I agree with that statement of yours yeah, Mother 3 is alright, it's just... not Earthbound. Nothing ever can or will be, right? [besides itself of course]

Nice pic, and yes EarthBound is the greatest RPG ever.

The Mother/EarthBound series pretty much doesn't have set main characters, (Much like some other RPGs) wich is why Mother 3 has a different cast. (In fact look at the Japan-onley Mother 1 game. It had different characters as well, though the first 3 main characters do resembled Ness & Co.)

I hear Mother 3 does have references to Mother 2 though, and apparently Pokey, and some other characters/enemies do return in it. (I honestly would love to see Mother 3 get a stateside release, but it seems doubtfull at this time.)

I totally agree with you o_o Actually, the only reason I came upon this was because I have an SNES emulator on my 'puter and I thought itd be a good idea to play EarthBound again, for old times sake. Well. I got hooked. Again. And Im drawing fanart left and right. In fact, I'm thinking about either doing a 'doujin', chronicling the entire story or what happens after Giygas. But dude, more Ness explaineyness would be awesome
Look for fanart soon.

Oh yeah, by the way, I love this picture xD And the concept behind it.

That's just really cool o_o I've never even played Earthbound- my only experience of Ness is from SSBM and I always found him extremely annoying- but the way you've advanced his age, and not only that but develpoed the plot further yourself, is really cool

Now you know I gotta have a friendly argument with you about this. I stand firmly when I say that Crono Trigger is the best RPG in existence!

Look, Chrono Trigger is great, I'll admit it. But it's alittle over-rated. Plus, everyone played Chrono Trigger, and it's art was drawn by Akira Toriyama, giving it an unfair advantage publicity wise. And It was a cool concept, time travel, Having warriors from different time periods battle alongside you (Frog is the coolest) But how often do you play an RPG in a modern setting? In Earthbound you heal with Hamburgers and get attacked by raving hippies? But, Chrono trigger is very very good yes. I still stand firmly on the belief that Earthbound is the greatest RPG ever though. Now if only Nintendo would listen to it's small cult fan following... ::sigh::

Chrono Trigger along with series is really good, I mean it sucks cuz it pretty mucn stopped like Earthbound, those kinds of rpgs are truly the best and masterpieces, I wont say that Earthbound is the best (Dont have a fave rpg [yet] but the earthbound series are really remarkable and story like makes fall in love on how coolweirdbeautiful it is.)

Reminds me of Super Smash Bros. Meele. I play Ness on there quite a bit. I know that sounds ignorant to you, an Earthbound Veteran.. But I still appreciate it. Nice Work.
