Description This is kind of a tribute to the old school zelda. I hope someday they make an old-school zelda game with updated artistic graphics similar to this image. Here's hoping...

Wow! This makes me so nostalgic for the original Legend of Zelda.

It reminds me of the cool artwork that was in the manual the NES game came with. Anybody remember when they actual gave you
manuals with games?

Great tribute! I honestly hate the Toon Link-concept used in many recent Zelda-games.

Wouldn't that be the thing?

As much as I liked Skyward Sword (motion control blunders aside), it would be nice if Nintendo took this series back to basics if only for a spin-off series for the 3DS.

It makes sense, considering that Zelda is the only thing that Nintendo HASN'T paid retroactive tribute to lately. Pretty strange, what with the whole 25th anniversary thing...

I wish for the same thing, oh how I've wished for the same thing for so long... this is awesome.
SO TIRED OF BLONDE LINK STEALING THE SPOTLIGHT.

Looks great, although at this point I've gotten used to faires as being little glowing orbs and Link always carrying a blue/silver Hylian shield...old school was awesome, but at this point I think many of us have adapted to the new era. xP

I just turned 25, I'm an old curmudgeon and I'll never adapt!
lol I like the new ones, but I have fond memories of the old Zelda games.

I'm never gonna adapt, either, unless I'm given a darn good reason to! And I'm older than you are. x3

Feels like the problem with many of the installments in the Zelda series that I have personally played since Wind Waker and up is it all feels like the same things you've done in the previous game in the series. That's not a bad thing, if it's not broke, don't fix it.
I just remember a time when the series went from one style right into a totally different one, between games (LoZ -> LA or OoT -> MM) and I still loved what was going on.

I love the subtle detail...although I never bet the original, I've actually played very little, I really like the official art of those older games and like it's simplicity. I hope they do make an old school looking Zelda just with nicer graphics but still cartoony. Or even old school smash brothers!
Lovely little peaceful spot you made and I like how you drew Link from behind ^^

Agreed. I love the older Art style from Zelda, Zelda II, Links Awakening and ALTTP. I always enjoyed flipping through their manuals just to see the Art work. It has that timeless magical and awesome feel/look to it. But that's the late 80's and early 90's for ya! Art work and cartoons from that era was pretty amazing and creative for the most part. But ya, I'm not a fan of WindWaker Link, he's defintily got to be the worst

Anyways, Skyward sword on the other hand looks absolutely wonderful. It's like a 3D ALTTP, it has that storybook look to it, I for one love it. Much better and more appealing to the eyes than the drab, dull and colorless world of Twilight Princess.
Anyways, awesome picture! beautiful work.

One thing I personally LOVED about the old Zelda art is that it looks like it could be from a cartoon, that's what I sort of thought when I first saw the original Zelda's artwork. When Links looking into a dungeon, I thought of Aladdin and the Cave of Wonders, which I thought was awesome. I'd love to have those manuals so I can see the art ^__^ I know, what happened?? It seemed like there were almost no bad cartoons back then, you were always looking forward to it, they were constantly pumping them out. Now you're lucky to get a good movie every 5 years, although How To Train Your Dragon, for computer animation, was reaally well done and the quality was pleasing compared to most. I actually like Wind Waker and that Link, but for the art I think I prefer the Minish Cap style more.

I am looking forward to Skyward Sword, I just hope there is a controller option! Seems like many people like Twilight Princess. I think it's great but yeah I totally agree, it is pretty dull with color and kinda depressing. Seems like everyone wants a dark depressing Zelda game now. I like it's dark moments, but it should be fun, colorful and exciting too!

I hear ya! I wish I could go back in time to the 80's when imagination was just out of this world. The cartoons were amazing, the Commercials were uuber colorful and out of this world, Nintendo ruled the world with the Nes, the toys were amazing, the Movies were brilliant, I could go on and on.

Anyways, as for Skyward Sword...
You'd rather use traditional controls? There's no way that I could....Honestly, when motion controls are done right they're absolutely amazing. Metroid Prime 3 for the Wii is the greatest example. Dual analog for me is archiac, dated, clunky and boring. Where as pointer controls are immersive, engaging, intuitive and fun as hell. In MP3 I 'felt' like i was samus....After that amazing experience, i can't go back to dual analog or traditional controls for 3D games that require you too Aim, shoot, attack and so on.

As for the sword controls in Skyward Sword, I can't wait. MotionPlus is pretty damn impressive, and SwordPlay and Wii Sports Resort in an awesome showcase/demonstration based on what they can do with it. Being able to control Zelda's sword 1:1 is going to be incredible. Then there's rolling bombs, using your Bow and arrow ect ect. Watch what Miyamoto will come up with, he's going to blow us all away hehe.

Anyways, I don't find using an analog stick to aim fun any more, or pressing a button to swing a sword in any 3D game. Wouldn't you rather feel as if 'you're' link? I know I would!

I dunno about anyone else, but I like Brown-hair-Link better than Blonde-Link... Heroes shouldn't be blonde, only the princesses they're saving should be... heh, that was some weird logic.

So I LOVES this pic!

The fairy looks marvelous and Link looks so cute in this picture!^^ Even though I'm actually a hardcoire Wind Waker fangirl, I'd be very happy if they made a Zelda that looked like this!^^ Exspecially with such a cute Link!

Just one boy, one princess, and one greedy pig fighting over some triangles. THAT is what I want Zelda to go back to. Nintendo needs to end this "3D Ocarina" fad and go back to what made the originals so much better.

No Dark World, no Sages, no great big Hyrule Field of emptyness.
No horse, no boats, no overabundance of mini-quests that take up more time than the main quest.
No Navi, no Master Sword, no stupid sexy Adult Link.
No Zant, no Vaati, and especially no human Ganondorf (he's a PIG, dammit).

FAVE'D!
