Humming Bird wouldn't be her official name, more like a petname given by Discord because she had a habit of using 'hums' as manner of communication, rather than actually talking as she grew up. She still prefers to communicate using bird chirps, general animal noises, and hums, as she does not like anypony else, other than her mother and aunty Twilight ( she's also very fond of her papa Discord, but he has a hard time hearing that from her when it's only told to him in the form of "cheep cheep". ), and talking like this means she doesn't have to deal with anypony else. Also, only Fluttershy can understand her, this is a bonus for Humming Bird.
