Mars was going for impact that one night I went out to see. All the other stars were shrouded in cloud-gray. She was wearing red.paint sketch for my journal
Acrylics, eggshells, star confetti on board.

No no, it doesn't look weird. Hmmm. I did like the crisp contrast which made it have a definite significance, but the blurred seems to be kinder to the eye.

I'd never have thought of eggshells. Bloody brilliant. Maybe a red circle of paint for Mars, to echo the strokes you used for the sky?

Nice texture! Lovely colours. I almost wish Mars wasn't stuck on though, but it's an interesting, clashing effect.

I get what you're saying; I'm a bit concerned about that too. It looks too delineated, doesn't it? That combined with the red makes it stand out a tad too much, I feel.
I tried blurring it a bit on the computer and it looked better.
Now if I can only figure out how tone it down on the actual pic I will upload that version.
