Description Chapter 1

Lindsay clutched her purse as she walked towards the golden elevators near the end of the corridor. She didn't know if specific ones took you to specific floors, but that seemed highly unlikely. She managed to slip onto one as the doors were just closing. She sighed in relief, happy to be away from all the noise. But her mood was soon changed as the elevator jolted to the right, then back, then down. Who invented this? Did they even think of how sick it made people feel when it tossed them back and forth like this? Who would approve of this being made? She shook her head in disbelief, deciding that this place was getting stranger and stranger by the minute.
All of a sudden, the elevator came to a screeching halt and a soft voice was heard throughout the box. "Level Two: Department of Magical Law Enforcement." Lindsay didn't need a second warning, and got off of the elevator as fast as she could. She sighed in relief, happy to finally have some peace. She walked up to what looked like another front desk and asked for Arthur Weasley. Hehe, Weasley. The young man gave her directions at how to get to his office, and she thanked him with a wave and a smile. She walked down the hallway, her high heels clicking against the wooden floors.
After what seemed like only seconds, she came upon a very small office, but which had a brass title on the door. Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office. Head: Arthur Weasley. Well, this had to be it! And what the heck was a Muggle?! She swallowed, then slowly opened the door to find a very cluttered office full of papers and files and boxes, all stacked to as high as the ceiling, which wasn't very high at all. A rather average man turned from a desk and said,
"Ahh, you must be Lindsay! They just called up and told me you were coming. Well, let me begin by saying welcome to the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office!"
He smiled broadly, giving off the impression of a lightbulb. Lindsay giggled at this thought. But then she remembered why she was here.
"Sir, I need your help. I have no idea where I am or what I'm doing here. I just wanted to use the phone booth on a street corner in London to call my friend, and all of a sudden I'm an intern at the Ministry of Magic! What the bloody heck is that?! I'm just really confused and really scared... and what the bloody heck is a Muggle?!
She felt a lot better after letting it all out. Although her expression was hopeful, Arthur Weasley's was very grave.
"You have no idea what any of this means, do you?"
Lindsay shook her head.
"You don't know what a Muggle is?"
Another shake. He sighed.
"I always knew this would happen, I just didn't think it would be today of all days."
Lindsay was confused. Was he talking about her?
"Excuse me sir, but what are you talking about? Have I caused some sort of trouble here?"
Arthur Weasley shook his head.
"No, no of course not child. You're just not supposed to be here, that's all. Look, a Muggle is a non-magical being, a.k.a. you."
He sighed.
"Come with me."
He took Lindsay's hand, leading her out of the office and back into the corridor, past the young man at the desk, back to the elevators. Thankfully, they were the only ones getting on. For now.
