Description While there is indeed lore written for the three characters protrayed in this already, my knowledge of Eldar lore could definitely use some refining. So instead of posting it here I've decided to do some more research on the race and make sure what I've written could and can survive in the 40k universe without sounding far-fetched! (So as to mindfully avoid looking like it's written by a moron...)

Anyhoo! In a nutshell, the three characters portrayed here are the three main heroes and leaders of my original Craftworld, Ishayr. From left to right, they are Esther, Kaethyr and Ilyndrae.

I may actually release two versions of this, redrawing the characters in more relaxed positions with their environment. But early days...

I do. This regament along with the others in the 64(The regaments of Old earth that were asembled in the 1st mellinium) Have a tendacy to get xenos directlly in the ranks. So yea Thre is a tolernce of Xenos. AS long as they are the xenos that are not killing you that is.

I see. Oh well, I'll admit I was being overly protective of this trio in fear they were about to be lynched on.

That said, though, if you were looking for any interaction with them, it might be hard since they're really only historical figures that aren't involved in 40k's current timeline. But as for their descendants... that's a definite possibility. I'm still really only writing out the beginning lore for my Craftworld, though, so might want to give me some time to figure it all out and create permamnent characters. Do you play DoW2, btw?

Good question... although I'm not entirely certain. At this point of her life it's questionable, but she does become one later... maybe.

Because she is using a exarch exclusive weapon is just because that I ask and I read the book Path of thw warrior and seeing a exarch walking free in the craft world is a little scary!X_X

You may have my endorsement. That is certainly a nifty piece. The use of what westerners might call 'oriental' aesthetic references is a good way to make the Eldar seem alien.

if you dint mind may i ask you the backstory of this scene.. great work once again

Aikurisu In reply to Sael-ar [2011-11-11 05:18:06 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.

As for the backstory... I'm still working on it. Thought I had it figured when I was drawing this, but I've devoted more time to learning 40k lore and have been rewriting it ever since. What's solid though is the three Eldar depicted here were a trio of close friends that travelled the unknown stars together, in search of answers to a prophecy Ilyndrae believed she received from Isha herself; a prophecy that would save their craftworld and deliver their people away from their fears of the Great Enemy and his minions. This prophecy however was more a hidden path of self-discovery for the three, and near the end Ilyndrae and Kaethyr married with Esther as their witness. By then, and with the riddle of the prophecy solved, they returned as enlightened heroes to their craftworld and became its greatest leaders.

So this scene, moreorless, is when they were searching unknown stars for Ilyndrae's prophecy, and it lead them to what possibly is a forgotten exodite world.

You know, though I never played the table top games, I do love the lore, designs and general grim-darkness of 40k...

Nicely done mate. While the really bright red of Esther's armour helps her stand out, I think it risks overpowering the picture... fortunately the pink of the cherry tree ties it in. I like the couple of cherry blossoms falling outside the frame too.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aikurisu In reply to wraith11 [2011-11-11 05:00:12 +0000 UTC]

Funny thing about those outside blossoms actually... they were originally part of a bigger picture; where that water trickled to ended at a small pool with lost blossoms lapping at the sides. They were of a seperate layer, though, so when I created the bordering on a layer beneath theirs, they remained and I liked the transition enough to keep them...

You're right, btw. Before I drew in that tree, I was seriously thinking on making Esther's armour grey to make things balanced, but the blossoms saved the day.

I never really got into the table top side of things, either. But fortunately games of like Dawn of War are all the visual inspiration I need to love the universe... mostly.

Backwards from what I usually do - create an image and try to come up with a story

Aikurisu In reply to iduck [2012-05-09 16:03:44 +0000 UTC]

Actually, that is how I work, since most of my lore writings come after the artwork is done. They're sort of shaped by it all.

I srsly like how you painted this. Reminds me of Japanese style paintings. The Eldar writing in the top right corner is a very nice touch Any translation for it?

Aikurisu In reply to Relkan811 [2011-11-04 10:20:24 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, glad ya like.

As for a translation, it should roughly be: Esther | Kaethyr | Ilyndrae | Ishayr's Three ... So nothing fancy.
