Description
Well, technically this isn't an alternate design, because it's really just the tail that brings question. I haven't decided whether to consider it an artificial cosmetic to the suit, or give it to Katra's genetic background. She's still half-nelri though. It's just a matter of who the other side of her species is. Anyway! This is a typical flightsuit the lovely lady is posing in, without the extras of padded armour and other add-on-layers for support. It has been a while since I've drawn anything at such a large scale too, so a full-view is highly advised! Plus I've been meaning to draw a portait size of her face in detail... so here we are. XDAnd if you click here or the above; it will show you the other artwork she's in.
The character Katra Lynaisa, and her design is - Β© Kristopher P. Love.

That's a really nice outfit that Katra is wearing! The posing on her is really good too!

0_0 I remember the days when your version of hair was block colour with a few hi-lights thrown in.
I also remember the days the figures werne't quite so atonmically correct.
In short: OMG ROXORZ!
^- look you've reduced my brain back to shorthand it's so good!
Although you're using the red again. And I'm not sure if I like it or not in this one.

Hehe, glad ya like it Maddy. I am awe of of your shorthand. XD
All I ask is that you give red a chaaance... *waves a little lighter in his hand while the music starts playing*
And naaah, I'll leave the block colour hi-lighting technique to anime artists. I just can't seem to grasp that style anymore, which is probably a good thing with the progress I'm making.

great pose and angle! I just think that her eyes stand out a litlle bit too much (bright) maybe with some more shadows in them?

*nods* I've been thinking about that too, but I'm unsure how to go about it.
The only thing I can come up with so far, is to make the whites of them darker, which would bring out the reflection of them better, but I'm still uncertain. XD

Yes, darker, and in a way to suggest the shape of the eyes (globes), and it will be very good

Aikurisu In reply to joriavlis [2006-03-15 05:38:22 +0000 UTC]
Well, I applied a little darkening just then. A bit too much, or fine as it is?

joriavlis In reply to Aikurisu [2006-03-15 12:00:32 +0000 UTC]
It's looking good. I was thinking about doing the white of here eyes less "white". Indeed, if you took a blank sheet and look at it in a dark place, what would be the colour of the sheet?
π: 0 β©: 1
Aikurisu In reply to joriavlis [2006-03-15 13:20:35 +0000 UTC]
More of a grey I guess. So what I've done should have just been lightened instead of darkening certain parts?

joriavlis In reply to Aikurisu [2006-03-15 13:44:37 +0000 UTC]
hum... no, I think that the 100% white you have here could be more in the general tone of your pic. For example, if you are in a room with blue light, the white sheet would be in fact "blue". Take a photograph (without flash) of a white sheet in your bedroom, put it in photoshop and, whit the dropper tool, select the colour: I'm sure it would not be white. What makes us think it's white is our own perception of this: our brain nows it is "white" (if it's seen on an hard light). So to come back to your picture: those white eyes are really bright, this could be a style (if you wanted to focus them), but if you want to achieve instead more realistic painting, this white would be more dark, and in a way to suggest the eye ball (wich you have already done).
I'm really saying this to you, because I am myself learning right now how to do better eyes, I was kind of tired to ear here and there "wow, the face is realistic, but the eyes don't seem to blend in"...

Hmm, so what you're saying is, is that even despite the main parts of her eyes being white now is just a reflection to bring shine-- should be more grey? To me, the white tones in eyes is generally a trend seen far too often with anime artwork, so I guess it's just kinda rubbed off on me.

I love this outfit! I have to giggle though at the thought of her trying to fit that tail into the tail part of the costume.

Hehe, well perhaps the technology in the era is able to encase her body like a mold. I don't know the details yet, but it would be another matter of figuring how they get out of the outfit then. XD

Choose any color you like. Xull'rae can wear anything. If you draw her in more adventure type clothes, black, browns and grays are the color she uses to blend in.

Her design is divine, Love!
I totally dig the tail! I think it should be genetic, as I can't see what purpose it would serve as just part of that AWESOME outfit.
I really like the angle you've used here, too. Sweeeet!

Yeah, I've been trying my hand at coming up with poses a bit different than what I like usually. Hehe, I suppose the tail could be a fun extra to have. That's not usual either in my main character designs.
