Made from young Camellia sinensis leaves, the white tea has a much lighter flavor than green or black tea. Although the color is usually a light yellow, the name white comes from the fine silvery-white hairs from the tea plant buds. A type of green tea, the genmaicha is a fun japanese blend made from brown rice. In a similar fashion to a popular snack, some of the rice grains pop during roasting and very much resemble popcorn, from where this tea earns the nickname "popcorn tea". The rice gives the genmaicha a rich, warm, nutty flavor.
