Description Oh, y'know, this is me in my every day clothes...

Yes, I'm a geek. And yes, I love Chun Li. And I made my outfit. Painstakingly.

I was into cosplay 2009-2010, but gave it up because it's just too much for me to make an outfit (and I'd rather take pictures of it)... but I will forever be an enthusiast of cosplay! The dress however is way past retired. I tore it up at a Halloween climbing competition... why I wore it at a climbing comp, I don't know.

I cosplayed Chun Li's original blue outfit at SD Comic-con 2010 but I can't find the pictures -__- I'll submit another ID of that if ever I find them.

Taken at EVO 2010. Lovely lady beside me is Athena from King of Fighters.

I thought it would be cool to photograph cosplay, just seeing the images.... I have become a fan of this stuff in the past year but still don't know the character to well..

I think for cosplay photography, it's crucial to know the character's background in order to capture their essence.

My goodness you've captured the character so well, it's a shame you tore the costume.. hopefully there's a chance you can bring this one back~!!!

Did you ever play against people in SF4 with that costume on?

May I ask what type of fabric did you use for the waist-band?

Thank you!! Hahaha YES I did play people with the costume on, Chun-Li was my main too so it was silly-looking lololol

The gold sash was made with tulle fabric-- I cut it to wrap around my waist and then measured 1-inch diagonal lines and drew them on the inner side... then for like 3,000 years I hand-stitched a criss-cross stitch along the lines I drew out because in order for the fabric to pull I had to manually stitch it together.

that's quite impressive, I would've thought that you machined-sewed it. My friend was thinking about doing the costume and she had the Alternate ver. in mind.

Did you include batting inside as well, and I also forgot to ask what did you use to keep it in place around your waist?

Sorry if I'm asking alot~!!

No batting. I'm pretty caveman with my sewing skills-- I don't even know how to use a sewing machine.. all the measurements were trial and error and fitted onto my body. The dress served as a slip and I put eyelets along both sides of the waist and tied them both to keep in place, then put on one of those waist shaper things that suck in everything and then tucked/pinned the gold sash into place. Gold sash was tied with the red roping and velcroed at the back.

It's totally fine!
