ooh show me pics! i want to buy a new zoom for portraiture cus i dont really like fixed lens (only the fact that it's so sharp and clear is what i like lol), but im not so sure if i should get this 17-40 L lens cus it's wide angle.

not to mention fucking expensive. The tammy is great, I've been getting amazing film shots with it, and great digital shots on an xs and xsi. I would highly recommend it, if it's not wide enough, theres a Sigma version of it which is 24-70 I think 2.8 still. But the tammy has better picture quality surprisingly. I got mine used in fine condition for 270 with a filter, could've gotten it at 200 but I was too late, retails at about 370-400.

the canon 17-40 is only 700, which is a very good price for a luxury lens
i would get third party lenses but im just the kinda person that has to sport canon lol.

I've personally tested that lens and I mean it's good, but people everywhere say that as far as IQ goes, the tamron, I have is nearly the same as the canon L equivalent. I was wary of third party at first too but then I gave them a go and they really are worth it. But hey, if you've got the dough, by all means go for it!
