I'm not too big a fan of tartovki's homage style to UPA, or his artwork in particular, however i love his ability to Direct. I beleive that if he were to have directed the last star wars film, it would have been sooooo much better.

IN any case, wonderful rendition. Very well done.

If the Clone Wars style is anything as funky as that, I can see why.

I'm in love with Obiwan in general! I love the pose, and how linear the style is. And I love seeing your pencilwork slightly in spots--it gives it a lot of character.

Thanks I put the shadow in later when I realized he looked like he was raising his right leg in a strange manner. So now his feet are firmly planted on the ground.

Well Vader is uncool and a spoiled brat, so he (in a jealous fit) killed all them. :\

Oh sooo cool! I fell in love with the clone wars too. I must say Obi is really teh sexyness in those clone wars (man, I'm cheating on grievous!) this is a beautiful and dynamic pic, and I love how you manage to insert your personal style in it! A fave for sure, my dear!

I saw Star Wars today. I love it! I don't know what everyone was complaining about (my friends all complained about it, saying that they didn't like Anakin and crappy dialogue and all that) but I didn't find anything wrong with it. I mean ... even the part where he becomes Darth Vader. It's not that bad. It's a movie about war. Why do people expect focus on character development in a movie about war?

And I think I do actually like Obiwan. He's really cool. But I prefer Qui Gon better. I'm so sad that Qui Gon only lasted one film. Qui Gon rocks. *wuv* I like the way that they animated Grievous, and I like the way that he moves. Very cool. The way he fights in Chapter 20 of Clone Wars is really cool, too. Like when he wields the Light Sabre with his foot. But the Clone Wars Windu is the best.

Did you like Samurai Jack too?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aimee5 In reply to vshjaar [2005-06-02 15:09:10 +0000 UTC]

I've seen Samurai Jack before. Once. Clone Wars is somehow just heaps cooler, though ... I mean ... that scene with Mace Windu o.o (volume 1)

Seek out the episode of Samurai Jack with the three archers. Ask around, somone will know the actual episode title, it's from one of the early seasons. That's a brilliant damn cartoon in any style.

I'm touch and go with Tartokovsy's aesthetic style. I really, really admire his ability to direct animation, though. I'd love to see him on a project with a more detailed style.

Powerpuff Girls is Craig McCracken, though, not Genndy Tartakovsky.

Well, they're old college buddies from Cal Arts. Roommates, I believe... they developed their premiere series while in school, so they've fed back and forth off each other. I'm pretty sure both have directorial/production credits on each other's cartoons.

McCracken is doing Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends now, which is funnier and more creative (IMO) than PPG ever was.
