Description
Praying mantis.A little bit about how this is done. This particular shot's bokeh was received from a back lit lemon leaf. lemon leafs have small pores all over them. the back light shines through these pores, and the fact that they are outside the depth of field, cause them to appear in the shape of the lens's aperture.

That is a great technique. Did you make it up or did you learn to do it somewhere else? It has a magical quality to the shot. I couldn't think of any other word that described these photos. Yes, magical is the perfect word for them.

Thank you,
I got to it by myself after doing some back lite leaf shots. I was amazed from the results and later on the idea of using them for a background just came naturally

That is a great technique. I bet a photography magazine would do an article on it if you showed them your work.

This is fantastic! I love the monochrome colors and the overall nature feel to the piece. The way that the bokeh comes through really enhances the photo. As does this little guys pose. Now we just need to pan to the right and see all his little orchestra. ;3

Absolutely stunning photo!
Just out of curiosity: did the lemon leaf happen to be there or did you place it there?

I placed it there, and I also caused the mantis to stand that way (:
I love directing
