Description
Hi y'all. This is a reference sheet for my own race I created for a Nation Roleplaying Game I'm playing with a bunch of friends. This race started out as your regular anime kitsune girl - just fox ears and a tail, but recently I got inspired to reimagine it in a style I really loved in the recent anime BNA (Brand New Animal). Feel free to use the race in your own homebrew games (make sure to credit me tho)! Here's a summary of this race:
Odaru
Far-human fox
Average age of maturity: 16
Average lifespan: 120
Description:
Hailing from the island of Oda, at the heart of the Ashigawa nation, these fox-like humanoids make up almost the entirety of the Ashigawan population. While the international scientific community refers to them as Far-Human, they are, in fact, somewhere in between Far-Humans and Demi-Humans. They themselves prefer to refer to themselves as Beastmen.
Like Far-Humans, Odaru are entirely covered in fur with patterns that mimic those of the fox. They have slightly paw-like fingers and toes, with claws instead of nails on both. They have a fox-like nose. More closely resembling Demi-human, they have human-like shape of skull, without any animalistic muzzle, human-like limbs and human-like eyes.
The colors of the Odaru depend mostly on inherited genetics, but sometimes could be seeming random. The standard fox colors, with a red-orange coat of fur, pale front, dark hands, feet and ears being the most common, there are also outliers that have a black fur coat or entirely white. Their hair is usually a darker shade of the fur coat color, but many Odaru are known to dye their hair - most commonly blonde or a variety of unnatural colors such as cyan, blue, pink, violet, etc.
Eye colors come in a variety of colors, with red, blue, green, yellow and purple being the most common. Odaru with multicolored eyes, while extremely rare, are regarded as the most beautiful.
Overall Odaru are slightly shorter than humans, averaging at about 5 feet 2 inches. The shortest recorded Odaru in the year 1900 was 4 feet 5 inches, and the tallest - 5 feet 9 inches.
Diet:
Odaru are omnivores, although the native Ashigawan diet, which majority of Odaru follow, is heavy in fish and rice. They are able to drink alcohol, although not in large amounts like other races, including regular humans.
Strengths and Weakness
With their fox-like nature, Odaru are nimble and quiet. They are able to sneak up on almost anyone, including animals. They are also very flexible, using their dexterity to make up for their lower than average among other races physical strength. They have a fast metabolism, which allows them to eat large quantities of food without gaining weight. While they have adapted to living in the tropics of their homeland, their fur allows them to easily bear the cold even without winter clothing - although not so much extreme cold. Just like most Far-human and Demi-human species, they have an enhanced vision, hearing and sense of smell, often relying on the latter two when their target is hidden.
