Description
This picture even has a story behind it XDLovely Rose was a beauty, and she knew it. Every day she would spend hours looking at her reflection, marvelling at her wondrous hair, porcelein skin, and lean figure. One day her reflection spoke back, and showed Rose her world. Reflection-Rose lived in a dark world and envied her counterpart's world of light. So one day, she finally managed to take over Rose, and Rose was stuck in the mirror that she so loved while her reflection took her body and went out to see the world that she lived in.
Mwuhahah. Poor Rose.
Anyways, thank you very much to `Elandria for allowing me to use her exclusive Mirror Mirror stock [link]
The background comes from my very own stock account, ~Laire-Stock , and can be found here: [link]
Original 8x12 in, rendered in Prismacolor pencils. Too many hours. XD

There goes me thinking this was a nice, innocent portrait of you and Sini. Goes to show I shouldn't assume, esp with you!

The concept is beautiful, I always loved this idea. I think your drawing style is nice, but there's room for refinement. More refined pencil work would really complement your creativity and eye for color.

Thank you very much for your comment. I haven't used colored pencils for over a year, so it very much was an experimental process- do you have any suggestions as to how to use colored pencils in a more refined way? I find that if I don't press hard enough the color is not clear, yet when I blend (usually with the white or light colors) it leaves a slightly scratchy look.

On second look, I think your pencil work really works. It has a kind of life of it's own, shows the artist's mark. Pencils are really hard to master, that's probably why alot of artists go digital, use photoshop etc.

Well, thank you That is very much appreciated. I am torn between "showing" pencil marks and not, so I often use a variety.

I have to say that this one caught my eye because it resembled one of my photo manipulations, "The Mirror". Good work though, I do like it.

AinuLaire In reply to ambyr-rain [2009-05-26 04:29:23 +0000 UTC]
Ah, yes, I definitely see the resemblance. It isn't the most unique idea in the world- I have seen book covers and figurines with similar themes- but it was fun to draw out, nonetheless.
Thank you for the fave, I appreciate it

Lol, that is true. I have seen quite a few "mirror" poses like that, and I know mine wasn't an original Idea. I remembered seeing an advertisement for a movie that about mirrors that creeped me out and that was where I got the inspiration.
