Description
There are few ways to silence the screams.Bullets happen to be one of the more efficient methods.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I haven't been drawing enough lately. Now I don't have the excuse of school. Soooo, this summer shall reap many paintings. And, more importantly, I intend to write my book this summer. I swear. No really, I will.
Anyhow, above is Daven, (or Vaden, depending on his mood) who has severe psychological... issues... and outlets them in less than wholesome ways. Since very young Daven suffered voices screaming in his head, a condition that would grow worse as the years went by. The only ways he could smother the cries, or atleast temporarily be deafened to them, was through drugs, sex, and often violence. It was in the midst of his worst crime, at barely twenty-six years old and on the threshold of his own death, that a new option was offered to him... *dun dun dun*
Eeee! Last time I saw this was on Elfwood (looong time ago), and it was always my favorite of yours. I decided to track you down here on devART, and here it is. Happiness.
I love the premise, the tattoos, and...well, him. The anatomy's pretty much wonderful. You can see so much motion.
His pose and every curves of his body is delightful, since telling a great story you explained in your description. I this case, no need to se the face to full understand what is happening to him. You put a lot into this, though it may seem graphically relatively simple, at first. I love how the gun is subtle in the whole view, a veeery important touch. And colors are just great. Keep up the good work.
You've done a damn good job at creating a mood or emotion without showing the guy's face.
Very powerful piece. The pose, and the background mix to create just the right emotion for the title of the piece. I particually like the intricite tattoo's that seem to ripple over his skin. Very good piece.
Also. For the hand that's on the wall. Bravo for the shading and making it really look extended.
I could say that I really like this picture, as most would, and I do. I guess rather, I'd like to express that what you have touched on feels very personal, and revealing, and this is a very emotive and wonderful truth. Thank you for touching upon that emotion whatever it is; religion, love, lust, greed, really anything that pulls us away from something better. It's different for us all, but we all strive for that "better ideal." I don't intend to be preachy or anything as I have said, I'm probably the last one to say anything regarding religion, me and religion aren't as tight as we used to be, but still, I think this pic is great, and really boils a life down to what it's worth and that idea of striving for something better through all the crap life deals people.
Thank you
You can't imagine how good comments like that make me feel.... I'm really amazed and flattered that a piece of artwork of mine had that kind of effect, or at least was interpreted as more than just 'a guy standing there'. When someone sees meaning in a piece like this, I feel like I didn't fail at reaching people on the inside... which is always my most central goal. I hate the idea of my art being just eye-candy, and sometimes it seems like that's what it becomes. But when I read things like this.... well, thank you so much... makes me want to work harder at it.
GAH! Beautiful! It's so dark and creepy, yet simplistic and that what drives my eye to the center subject. The design of the character and your choice of colors are wonderful and excellent craftsmanship! The pose is great and I love that tattoo! O_O
Very nice picture indeed. He looks so lost, hopeless and very tired of what's happening to him. However, he does seem like a strong character, for what reasons I don't know. Lol. Anywho, this is a fav and I'm putting you on watch.
You know, I think you are getting a bit *too* good now. Like, you are not turning 17 in a few weeks, but have actually had about 50 years of practice and are simply pretending. How do you manage this and like...any other form of existance? I am bewilderificately amazed.
This one reminds me of NIN for some reason.
I was very likely listening to NIN whilst drawing this, as I listen to them for pretty much all of my artistic creations.
Wow. Sad, painful, very poignant. I love the simplicity of the line-art in some places (his hands, the musculature of his arms and shoulders), but I equally love the complexity of it in others (the pants, the tattoo). And the coloring job is just too much for words. I love this picture, plain and simple.
Brilliant picture. The pose is excellent, it seems so simple yet it's very emotional and ...dynamic, as much as a person standing can be. The tattoos and pants are great too. Very nice, and intriguing description too ^_^
