Description
First in a series of eight--I'm only reposting six, as I have since editted the series. The theme for this series was gender studies and the perception thereof. Faces were intentionally cropped out during shooting. No cropping occurred during printing.

I must admit I'm a sucker for black and white pictures. Especially ones like this.
I really like the contrasts, in both the idea of the clothes and the belt/boots.
Even if it was out of necessity of lack of anything on hand, as you said in one of your previous comments.

I really like the idea behind this print series, and I like how the models mimic each others poses, to an extent. What was the reasoning behind the boots in this image? I mean, why boots and not, say, typical men dress shoes?

Actually, it was less a "reasoning" than a lack of the ideal. Those were the most masculine, semi-formal shoes that we could find in the house. Also, Shelly doesn't own long slacks, and so tucked a pair of gauchos into the tops of the boots.
For some reason, Priya adored the look and told me after the preliminary shots "not to change a thing".
Honestly, I really would have preferred to dress her entirely in male attire--but the lack of perfect boy-clothes somehow pleased Priya so much that she told me not to borrow anyone else's for the second shoot.
