Pilot ship escorting a freighter down through the clouds and back into Shanghai docks

For the escort ship I was inspired by the sails of Chinese junks for the vane like control surface at the bottom. I thought it could control direction and fold up after landing. Interesting using an old technology in a futuristic setting.

Edit 09/11/09 - Quite a bit of a re-edit. I've doubled the res, painted over the freighter to add a lot more detail/get rid of the sloppier looking tiles. The biggest change is moving the pilot ship from small and low down, to really trying to make it look like it's flying right past you.

It's a fair amount of change, at the time I first did it it was the best I could do, and I just ran out of energy. A year and a few more pictures later, and I'm happy to back for a bit of revisionism.

Anyway the v1.0 picture is in the scraps.
