I have to know why they wear mask that have a rough human morphology? Especially by comparison to their own, quite alien visage beneath. I know you said they wear mask as a cultural thing to conceal the face beneath but what cultural values and pressures drive this and why do so many of the mask have a human shape. Is this a result of a cultural exchange or contact with a human or near-human population?
P.S. your designs are awesome. They are captivating, beautiful and inspire mytery. Keep it up.

I'm still missing lot of small details about why the masks are like they are and of the species acts.
One of the main reasons that the masks are human like and mostly feminine is the simple fact that to most it's pretty also there's the fact that it's not unusual for them to be near other species. Of course not every haroth thinks that a human face suits them and they still have right to decide how they want to show themselves as.
But for one that does trading with more human looking species it's better to have a mask that isn't scary and has the kind of features as the species they're involved with.
