She's a scientist. With three PhDs, first one she earned, with honours just after her ninth birthday. For the bulk of her adolescent life, she's studied the link between the arcane arts and the physical sciences, wrote over a dozen papers on the topic.
The the explanation of something gets written off as magic is one of the many triggers of her temper. One of my favourites really.
