Description
Here is my submission for the Gears of War 3 contest! It was impossible for me to resist painting wings on a character named Marcus Fenix. I wanted the wings to be more of a spirit manifestation instead of physical wings growing from his back. The wings represent his warrior spirit and ability to lead a team in battle. I started this painting when I first heard about the contest and then went back and changed my direction after actually playing the game.
The art direction of gears has been a huge influence on me since the release of the first game. I love the feel of the shooter engine and the intimidating brutality of all the characters within it. I couldn't pass up an opportunity to submit to this contest.
100% hand painted in Photoshop CS4 with a Wacom Bamboo
Good luck to everyone who enters!

Great image... Although the wings are painted very well, you did a fantastic job on capturing Marcus himself... It looks like he could stand alone in the image with as nice of a job as you did on him...
