incredible... though I lived in a village for almost all my life, I haven't seen any clear sky like this ... I was happy to see the sky as good as I could, but this is just really stunning...!

Must be a place far away from urbanisation, from streetlights. How's your hometown like?
Pulau Tioman is an island 40km from mainland Malaysia (the closest city). It's a gorgeous mountain island (looks like a mini Hawaii).
No cities, only villages, very few motorised traffic. The night sky was amazing. I stay in the city and there are hardly any stars visible at night. We laid on the jetty and watched the stars go by til sunrise.

Where I used to live is not too far away from a town, only few kilometers (maybe 10), but this is also just a small town, so I really wonder how much it does affect the view anyway! But the good thing is, our street is the only one without any streetlights (can be a real curse, too.), so our garden is a great place to look at the stars. Pity, i don't have a telescope, and I'm not living there anymore either, just when I come to visit my family

As far away as possible from any urban glare. Perfect conditions I heard would be up to 30km or more from any urban light for the glare to disappear. Quite scary. Pity for us city dwellers.
Any park, with huge trees blocking streetlights would be great too! A forest clearing, the beach, lying down and listening to some piano music watching the stars go by. The most beautiful moment ever!

Photo filters. Haha. There is still some slight streetlight interference. I try to make it as what it would look like to the naked eye.

The beauty of nature never fails to amaze me. Just makes us humans seem so insignificant amongst the vastness of the universe.

exactly! and have such moments to remember back in the cities where we (must) live, is a gift!
I wish I had a good camera and a tripod for long night sky exposures and such. or a telescope and a car just to see and feel this mysterious, serene, majestic beauty whenever I want.
thank you for sharing this!

No prob! I would love to go to some rural places again soon!
Camera with manual control would be enough. I took this with D40, just a basic dslr.

Neither can I from where I come from. Not many stars visible from my house.
This was taken on a trip with my school. The island is 40km away from the nearest town on the mainland. Breathtaking sight!

I would have to go out of my country to see such a sight. Had also seen it once when I was in the middle of nowhere during a mountain climbing trip in the forest in Malaysia.
The whole of Singapore is just too urban and too bright to see it clearly.
