Description A half-hour sketch of Pateren and Shakaku, the Phoenix King long presumed dead (the phoenix is a part of Pateren). I am rather pleased with it. I might try colored pencils or use Elements, or perhaps both.

UPDATE:

^^ Yaaaaaaay! It's done! Actually...I finished it a couple days ago but refrained from loading it until tonight because I was going to do a nice, blue bg but today decided not to (I waited for my art teacher to get back and suggest wether or not I should do the bg). I'm going to frame it and put it up in my room for show because I'm very proud of how this turned out ! I wanna do other piccies like this starring the Phoenix Child characters X3! I almost thought about selling this, but I decided to keep it. If I had a Print subscription I'd have made it into a Print definately. But for now, I think I'll live with the original piece hanging on my wall for all to admire affectionately ^^!

So when you colored this...you used the markers for the base colors and then detailed with your pencils...?

Nope. I first colored using the pencils then went over the penciled colors using the markers so the pencil areas were all filled in (penciled pics tend to have lots of color gaps, you know; I learned this trick a long while baxk and it works very nicely).

It's basically finished. I'm not done with the bg yet, though--still deciding if I should color a bg or not... I am wondering whether to post the final version as a separate deviation or if I should just updatre this b/w version... Hmmm...

groovy!! that phoenix king is AWESOME. i love how the swirling rivets of fire flare out, and the moon and (sun? full moon?) make lovely balance.

^^ Glad you like! I'm nearly finished coloring him, in face . He's coming along VERY nicely X3! Even thought Shakaku is in reality like HUUUUUUGE and here he's relatively small, he still looks nice.

Photoshop Elements is basically a baby version of Photoshop and has a few differences. It's all I have -_-"...

Ohh, why not go for the colored pencils? They'd give you a rich, slightly unpredictable look to a rich, slightly unpredictable lineart! If this is the kind of lineart you come across poking through old stuff on your computer, then I'd love to poke through your old stuff too XD;; Though i know how much that makes me feel when people do that to me, so I know better than to ask you. hehehe.

So yes, I say definitely color this, if not with colored pencils then sure, Elements works ok too. It'll end up looking fantastic either way you go.

Thanks! I am pretty excited about coloring it, myself! I might even try putting it on canvas with oils sometime later this year so I can frame it and show it off on my bedreem wall (because my walls are really boring right now -_-)! I am going to do the bg in blues and greens to bring out the vivid reds, oranges, yellows, and blacks in the main picture ^^. What do you think? Good or bad idea?

Oh, yay! I am so glad you haven't forgotten about Phoenix Child and Pateren, who i love. ^^ I love his pose and the flowiness of his outfit..he's very cute. Of course. ^^
The phoenix is AMAZING, particularily his wings...the way you draw detail and effect is amazing...your originality never fails to amaze me. ^_^ And I mean that!
I'm afraid I must seem like a creepy stalker now, and fave this too...because it's awesome.

I started drawing this one piccy for someone else while listening to my evenessance music. I got angry and turned the sheet over, and just started sketching. And viola! Behold Pateren and his firebird counterpart !

I was inspired by a piccy of a fire angel I saw on da a long time ago that I saved on my pc. I was rummaging through my crap and deleting stuff when I ran across it and was immediately inspired. It didn't kick in until just now, but the point is that it kicked in, right ^^?
