Description
Shuu Lin is joining Celice at embroidering aristocracy ceremonial robe. In Shuu’s origin culture embroidery is something done at the imperial court, for the upper classes. So is Celice’s piece: a garment for the king made at his palace. However in Celice’s homeland embroidering, beads, sequins and so on are for everyone! (Quills are exception) Type of decoration depends only on depth of one's pocket.
Celice loves everything in connection to fashion design: dying textiles decoratively, cutting out patterns, sewing fancy tucks and finish clothes with variety of materials. At first nobody at palace knows about it, as she has hardly ever talked. Then she started to surprise these whom she likes with well-matching accessories, (since she has become king’s maid, she may afford items of highest quality).
Nowadays she’s happy to work on king’s new robe. A silver one. Mostly to keep her best friend, countess’ maid Sona occupied. You see, she expects baby and fears to work too hard and fears to be thrown out while not working hard. Someone, we all know who, had told his highness about it and he came up with an idea that Sona would help Celice with the robe.

They seem to have a lot of fun together I love how enthusiastic Celice looks about dedicating to her favourite activity. Shuu Lin appears very peaceful, it shows she can properly focus while embroidering. They're wonderful companions for this task
Yet another piece with wonderful pencil work! You're really rocking pencil this round

Great idea to show them having fun together like this! They look cheerful and concentrated. I imagine they are also having a pretty fun chat while embroidering that robe, judging by their expressions Also, I love the contrasts - you always have really nice shading in your pieces!

A beautiful rendition as we've only come to expect
I'm always amazed by how much depth and detail you put into your drawings and paintings. I'm far too impatient LOL The lace edging on Cecile's dress, in particular, stands out to me. Having often worked with pencils myself I know just how difficult it can be to pull off something like that with no hint of a smudge. Yet, amazingly, you do it time and time again with aplomb.
Your use of light and texture is lovely here. I can't draw cloth to save my life But the folds and shadows here are simple and perfect, giving a natural and smooth, rounded feel to the clothing on the characters. Shuu's hair is beautifully done, capturing the ethnic style and the decorations. I love your use of light here, I struggle greatly with shading black hair, whether in pencil like this or in colour. But you've given it a wonderful sense of shape and depth and the gentle hint of strands and direction too.
I doff my hat to a master
I'm glad Shuu had the chance to meet Cecile and practice embroidery like this. Shuu did spend time at the imperial palace in Shenjou (China) though she is mostly Azullian (Japanese) and see gowns like this made by wives of the rich and powerful. But to actually be able to do it for herself is both gladening and terrifying. Azullians have a very strict sense of their place in the grand scheme of things so she would be uncomfortable taking part in a pass-time that in her world is only for the rich and influential but supremely grateful to Cecile for giving her the chance.
My half of the art trade is coming, honest.
And it contains a link to a previous story to...
EDIT:
EEEEEKKKK!!!
I've just realised I've been reading (and writing) it wrong since I first entered the contest to design a maid (Moll) all those years ago. I've always read her name as Cecile, like the French, whereas it is actually CELISE. That name gives a completely different feel to the character than I imagined when I wrote about her... oops

I guess you may like it this mauch because of Shuu-Lin's hair-do and kimono. I hope it's as stylish as Koe's.
