Thank you soooo much!! I used Promarkers. XD They are quite cheap, I recommend giving those a "go" if you don't wanna pay for over-expensive copics. Heehe

I love the very simple yet beautiful and well implemented color scheme! The inking is crisp as hell. It is subtle enough not to take away any focus from the colors and overall composition and feeling of the picture but crisp enough to define each shape. I also have NO IDEA how you get the subtle texture on his skin and glasses with markers but BRAVO SIR!!! The typography on the balloon is also great! It mixes perfectly with the overall feeling of the picture.

The only thing I could suggest is changing the color of the hair. The glasses stand out a lot and that is the first thing I focused on, mainly because the black and gray is such a contrast to the orange and white and its in the center of the drawing. Then for some reason, the top of his head gets lost and confused to my vision, and I think its because there isn't enough contrast between the hair and the background. If you made the hair black and orange it might have fixed that problem.

Other than that, this is awesome! I can't wait to see more of your 2011 work!

Wow, thank you for your well thought out critique. Things like this really make me happy when other artists can really dive deep into another artists work and express how the piece really makes them "feel".

With the texture on the skin, that's just the way the marker dried to the paper. If I would've went over with another layer, then the texture wouldn't be there, but I didn't want his skin to be too dark, because then it'd get all "muddy".

You are definitely right about the hair possibly being black and orange as well. I was actually going to make it just black, but before I started, the white-orange combo popped into my head and I decided to go with it. I wanted to take a chance and see if it "worked" together with the piece, but clearly, it didn't work. I don't really like the hair, but ah well, it's already on the page. I guess this piece was more of an "experiment" anyway.

Thank you for your interest in my artwork, I'm actually more "pumped" to make more stuff after this comment, honestly. BTW, if you didn't already know, this is Marquil. I think it's awesome that you finally have a DA!! Did Kalen force you? Hahaha jk

No problem. You asked for critique and you got it. Plus I know it helps when I get good critique so I KNOW it would help a damn good artist like yourself.

And yes, I knew it was you Marquil. And Kalen did force me, sort of. He kept bugging me until I got one and then I needed a place to host my web-comic for my class last semester so I thought it was finally a good time to get one. It has actually encouraged me to draw more since I got it, and work on my animations as well.

Geez, I love the way you ink; your lines are so beautifully stylized and crisp.
lol

And the colors are ridiculously amazing too!
Really: WOW, haha.

I love orange-y warm colors!!!
Do you use copics?

Yay!! Thank you!! I'm so glad you noticed the way I line stuff. I love orange-y hues too. Orange is my favorite color. No, I didn't use copics for this, I used a brand called promarker. They act the same as copics, only less colors and less expensive. ^_^

Ooh, I'll have to check out promarkers then, haha.
I've been wanting something similar to copics but supplies can
be so expensive.
