Its usually when someone is accused of copyright infringement and deviantart is waiting for them to prove they have the rights to the picture/literature/etc.

I see things pulled on pages all the time for various reasons. The search feature hasn't got the memo, and you can't click on it, but it eventually disappears into the nether.

Usually if an image is 'pending request' it's art theft being removed. If an image is in storage, it's put out of public's sight on purpose. I actually don't know, in the past admins would just delete the offending material, but these days I've seen galleries full of this type of scene.

Storage looks on purposely different to pending request, though both seemed to appear around the same time. i think when they brought out Storage they also brought out Pending request

no, pending request form is when something is reported as being stolen. the person has so many days to get rights to post it or delete it or DA will remove it.
