Luca’s tail brushed low against the wet stone as he ascended the great stairwell, rumbling threateningly at things only he could hear. Anya watched his ears twitch - right, then left, then right again - with tight lips. For only a second at a time, fractured voices would brush past her ear; each time, she would snap her head around to find nothing at all.

They were cadence and pitch, unintelligible snippets of ghosts that clung to the Citadel like cobwebs. It reminded her of Soloros, and she could not help but wonder what the Citadel must have been like in its prime, before it was swallowed by the depths. Pricks of sorrow gnawed at her gut as she crossed beneath the library’s grand archway; Nisalvini had shared this fate, and what now?

Would the rest of the world follow, buried by their gods?

It was a terrifying potential her mind refused to comprehend. Even she could not look death in the face and just meekly accept it, so she had to try something. Even if she was small, dwarfed by the fate of the world as she was dwarfed by the library’s towering crystal shelves. Even so.

If the Citadel still had knowledge to give, it had to be found. There had to be a way to stop the world’s reckoning.

i really love grand, ancient structures,,,they invoke such a paralyzing sense of awe, like youre walking into the mouth of a living leviathan, and i wanted to try and draw something like that bc the citadel is cool as hECK

I LIKE THE WAY THIS TURNED OUT but squints as always in the Afterwards, i want to make it more detailed than it is...it would have benefited from a larger canvas, but that was something i didnt realize until i got to luc and Regretti Spaghetti-d IM SORRY SHES SO TINY LEY CLENCHES FIST
