Commission for Mekania @gaiaonline.These are her characters Midnight and Twilight.
I absolutely loved these characters, the most handsome -and equally arrogant- man at the party and a self conscious wallflower.
The ballroom is roughly based on Catherine Palace near St. Petersburg.
Drawn with pencil and shaded with ink.

HOLY CRAP!!! You ended up drawing a lot of people huh. xD I keep running into these Victorian Elizabethan Costume Ball things. Just actually made an avi on gaiaonline like that to submit to a contest. It was hard to keep it under 15k. Q_Q
But, wow! You've really outdone yourself in this picture. The perspective is perfect on the building, windows, and shadows. Your portrayed the main couple's expressions well to your description! :3
Makes me wonder though. Is there a reason the man isn't wearing a mask, while everyone else is?

His mask is one of those masks you hold up with a stick, if you understand what I mean.
I didn't know what to do with it, so lets just imagine he dropped it at some random spot. :s
