Hey, Core Members!

Have you found yourself slipping into a productivity slump? Maybe you need a bit of a push into creativity? Perhaps you crave a challenge? Or maybe the Thursday Prompt isn't enough for you?

Well, we're excited to announce an exclusive event just for our Core Members: CORE POWER HOUR!

Mark your calendars! Core Power Hour will take place on Thursday, October 25 from 9 AM to 5 PM PDT (Los Angeles time). A new challenge each hour. Winners each hour. Amazing prizes each hour.

We’re talking EIGHT straight hours of various challenges to get your creative juices flowing, art skills flexing, and most importantly, for you to have some fun! There will be one challenge per each hour — a total of eight challenges — so these events will be quick. You’ll have 30 minutes to create and submit your entry. Each challenge will have multiple winners, meaning you’ll have even more chances to win awesome prizes!

Rules

  • All works must be original works made specifically for each challenge (unless specified within the specific challenge).

  • Deviations found to be plagiarizing other works will be disqualified and removed.

  • If you are using other works that are not your own, you must make sure you have permission to use those works and credit the artist(s) whose work(s) you've used.

  • Works must be submitted within the provided timeframe of the specific challenge.

  • You must be a Core Member as of October 24, 2018 to enter.

Challenges

You’re probably wondering what kind of challenges these will be, huh?

Well, we can’t tell you exactly what they are, but we can say there will be opportunities for Art and Literature creation. With 30-minute creation windows, we hope that everyone will have time to be able to participate in at least one challenge. You can join as many challenges as you like and win multiple times!

Prizes

There will be multiple winners in each challenge, so we highly encourage you to participate. Here’s a preview of some of the prizes that’ll be offered:

  • $100 Amazon gift cards

  • One-year subscriptions to monthly gift boxes

  • Customizable business cards

  • iPads

  • Nintendo Switch

Judging Criteria

Entries will be judged based on creativity, originality, and adherence to the specific challenge, which will then be judged by DeviantArt staff and an outside, independent party. Winners for each challenge will be announced via journal at the end of that challenge’s hour.

What can you do then in the meantime to prepare for Core Power Hour? Make sure to join the CoreMembers group, as the challenges will be posted here as a journal entry at the top of each hour. We’ll also be posting updates with some challenge hints soon, so keep your eyes open!

What we need is a new, better interface, kinda like the mobile app, but in a full PC version. That's what we really need. Also, it would be nice if you added more features to the app.

It kinda feels like Deviantart is stuck in the past from a technical and design perspective. We see a lot of political activism tho, which is perfectly fine, as long as you do your job too. But really, the design problems are a big deal, and it's really not just me. It's kinda obvious that deviantart needs some refreshment.

It's definitely not better. The mobil app has many short comings. The features are minimal, you can submit artwork, you can browse, the browsing features are very mobile friendly, I love it. You can also comment. However you can't check out groups, you can only see group submissions in your watch list, but you can't access the groups themselves. No polls, no forums, no critique. A lot of stuff is missing. What I like however is the general design, black, modern and simplified interface instead of big goose poop colored bubbles. Very browsing friendly. I think they should take the basic mobil app, and overhaul the whole site based on it.

Currently you don't miss much with the app, it's a convenience feature if you are on the go, but you still need to communicate, or you want to check out new stuff from your favorites.

I used a VPN for saving data (OperaMax). The log refused to connect me because of that. Once I turned off the saving data app the login began to work

I believe that a big site update is coming soon, including interface updates and all that jazz. I think there was a recent journal from Kovowolf covering that? It's not like officially announced though. You're right, DA does need an overhaul.

Ohh, it would be amazing, I hope that's true. Yeah we need an overhaul. And a better search engine! I do my best to flag my stuff as mature content, but I still keep getting unwanted traffic from overly sensitive people. It would be nice if they where just able to add certain tags to a ban list, so they wouldn't have to act like an adult, and swallow the hard pill, that not everything on the internet is made for them. Instead they will be able to censor their own searches.

Oof yeah I checked your page to see what you were on about and I can see why you wouldn't want search function picking that up lmao X) I think a ban list would be a great idea, personally I dislike logging on and seeing un-flagged fetish art on the front page (which happens more than I'd like to admit X) ) I do my best to censor my own stuff (for example I block the NSFW tag on tumblr) and as long as creators tag their work as such, it works fine That would be a really good feature to see on DA too. I'm sorry to hear people give you grief over it, like its fair that they don't want to see that sort of stuff but if they're not doing anything to help prevent themselves looking at it then that's on them. As long as you're flagging as mature they can't say anything

I'm kind of thrilled with this idea to be honest.
I've constantly wished for dA to do more community activities specifically for subscribers, and this sounds exactly like the kind of thing I’d love to see more of. 

I hope you guys aren’t put off by these projects by the people constantly complaining either.
 I really don't think you'll be able to please them, no matter what you do.
