In last week's challenge, "Love in the Air ", we asked you to share with us some users to watch! We were taken aback by the great suggestions we've received from our users, and we thank you for all the nominations we've received: I wish I could give everyone a prize!

With that in mind, here are your winners!

This Week's Challenge

It is International Mother Language Day tomorrow, and we want to encourage all deviants to use their words, no matter what language you speak. For this week, speak your mind in your own language, in whichever form you prefer.

Once you’ve uploaded your deviation to DeviantArt, upload it to the "Language Lessons " folder in CoreMembers , then post it as a comment to this journal.

Rules

  • You may write in any language you prefer, including English! That said, should you choose to submit an entry in a language other than English, please provide a translation. (Note that while I speak multiple languages, I don't speak many others, so do keep that in mind.)

  • Please feel free to interpret the prompt as freely as possible. Feel free to write poetry, a story, an essay, or whatever you feel is appropriate for you to speak your mind. You may also submit an entry where you educate users about your language, and what we should know about it.

  • Yes, you may submit works in fictional languages.

  • Works may be no longer than 1,000 words (for prose) or 25 lines (for poetry) in length.

  • Entries that are found to be in violation of the Etiquette Policy  will be disqualified and removed.

  • Entries must be submitted by Tuesday, February 25 at 11:59 PM PST (Los Angeles time).

He used to use a chalkboard, coloured chalks and a cloth.

Hey everybody. Couple of dumb questions from someone who never in my 12 years a deviant took part in prompts and challenges (though, better ask the stupid question and be wiser than stay silent and dumb): is this a closed group thing or am I - not a CoreMember - also encouraged to participate in the prompt...?

(Just wondering if I got this prompt in my mailbox merely because I was mentioned in the previous prompt.)

Following: should we aim for competition or is it OK to just participate for the sake of participation and sharing something in my language? I don't have a bone in my body for prose, much less creative or original, but I thought I could partake anyway. Give a taste of Finnish for anyone interested.

All Core Members are encouraged to participate, Soposoposopo . You don't need to be a member to participate. That said, the contests are quite chill so while some win and some lose, the goal is to always have fun.

Lilith, seduta su di un divano in finta pelle bianco al centro di un piccolo appartamento arredato in stile minimal, alzò gli occhi dal plico di documenti che stava leggendo, e rivolse uno sguardo perplesso ad Izanami, sdraiata all’altro capo del divano in finta pelle bianco, una rivista in una mano, e nell’altra una penna a cui stava mordicchiando il tappo. «Prego?»
Izanami sbuffò e alzò le mani, esibendo un’espressione fin troppo scocciata. «Cosa c’è, hai magicamente dimenticato l’italiano? Se vuoi lo ripeto in un’altra lingua: what's your favourite colour? As far as I know, PowerPoint files can't be uploaded to DeviantArt, so you might need to convert it to a PDF and post it that way if you're unable to upload it to the site.

Yes, you can link to a Sta.sh document the way you did. You won't be able to submit it to DeviantArt (or to the folder), but it's fine if you keep it in Sta.sh so people can see it.

Limited TonguesIf I could teach my tongue
to dance a brand new dance
I would say hello to all my friends
strewn wantonly across the map
with syllables and steps

But my tongue has always been stubborn
it skips its step like a record scratched deep,
and my West Virginia lilt 
twists my words into shapes
akin to wire-hanger sculptures.
They tumble past my lips
and totter feebly across the room
sometimes only to fall on deaf ears
other times to root into the soil of my confidante's mind.
I sprinkle in words I do not wish to add
- an impulse that will one day surely betray me -
that take on crude and feral frames.
