It's Mello from Death Note. I deserved to get slapped for succumbing to this main steam stuff. >>;Oye. This is my second Death Note fanart attempt. The first was L, but it looks crappy. So, I ain't posting it. Uh.. I'm ashamed too.
I did try really hard to draw this properly. I was mostly bored and doodling, but then I felt the need to ink it. The hair looked horrible and I was freaking out. Then I noticed a yellow pastel at the corner of my desk calling to me. IT WAS. I never use pastels. But I grabbed at it and figured it couldn't get worse. Next thing ya know I was hard core coloring and I ended up with this.
Used regular crayola pencils, markers, some gold pastel and compresed charcoal (because pencil wasnt making it black) along with whatever other junk was on my desk. I don't ike the body at all, but I think I was fairly successful on the face. ^_^ And I managed to fix the hair. I feel like drawing some more blonds tonight. Currently working on drawing Tama-kun from Ouran. Buuut.... he looks super special unhappy. D: I CAN'T DRAW HAPPY PEOPLE, LEAVE ME ALONE D*MN IT! >

Oh. Funny story too. My dad thought this was Malik Ishtar. x_X Good job on remembering his name dad. BUT YOU FAIL for getting it so wrong. >>

I love the pose, he looks great. Though I don't know too much about Mello, since I stopped reading Death Note right before he appeared.

Aww... he's a pretty awesome character; a big contrast to L in stragety... he's so imperfect and emotional, I just love it. Why'd you stop reading? O_o; I found it too addicting to stop half way through....

L was my favorite and I couldn't imagine reading without him being there. Maybe I'll catch up to where the series is now since I'm starting to become more interested in it.

I know sooo many people who stopped reading because of that. It definitely delayed me... a lot. But, I had to finish since I was sooo angry at Light. I wanted revenge!! D:
I guess I didn't want to leave it off on such a bad note...
Glad I finished though... *nod* I don't finish a lot of series' cause I don't want them to end... but the fact that it's sort of a mystery/thriller it was too hard for me to put down to delay it.

Haha, well I think I have you to thank since you kind of got me interested in reading it again with your Death Note fanart and such. XD Just today I went out and bought another volume so I can continue reading the series. So thanks. C:

Just a quick question. Are there twelve or thirteen books in the series? e__e;; I'm not too sure, honestly.

Well, there are 12 volumes to complete the series. However, on like.. Febuary 19 2008, I believe, a volume 13 is coming out (In the US). It's kind of like a bonus volume I guess, I'm not sure what is in it - I heard there are character profiles and the DN pilot and possibley an alternate ending. And then a novel is also coming out on the same date that is written from Mello's point of view and it's about L's work in LA or something. ^^ So, yup, I'm pretty sure that is what they've got manga/novel wise. There are also two live action films or something that are supposed to be pretty good. ^^

It's like a really creamy, blondish brown color. Uhm, it's the color of sand. ^^ And his skin is tan, so it doesn't really match up. D:
