I was messing around with materials, and this was the outcome. Immediately after rendering it, I gave it a once over, and it looked like something that would be sold in the Otakon Dealer's Room. So, I called this the "Otakon" Color Scheme. (Of course, the finished sword will not be so colorful.) That gem, which I was proud of the material for, is staying that color through to the final render.Program: Autodesk 3D Studio MAX
Renderer: mental ray Renderer (FG)
Any comments on the geometry are fine. Don't bother questioning the colors, since they'll be different in the final render.

the real reason is because i'm not going to siggraph cause i cant afford it. and i know my parents will be like "oh u can go to otakon but u can't go to siggraph??" and i have a feeling that even telling them that siggraph will cost over 3x more than otakon wont quite sink into their heads lol

lol Excluding food, anything bought at the convention, or hotel expenses, SIGGRAPH alone is like 10x the amount. Otakon would be the cheaper choice, obviously. Perhaps, you parents need some persuading... *gets the "persuader"*

he likes being slapped around though
the reason why he hasn't done it though is because of siggraph. he wants to go to increase his chances of finding a job after graduating (can't say i blame him of course). and he has a feeling that his parents would feel the same aobut that (not going to otakon, but go to siggraph to find work)
