I like the concept of this as we are all simple reflections of the world around us...
whether we like to believe it or not.  Very prophetic piece!!!

Awesome photo! I really like the concept in this one. Simple pose and background, really lets the viewer focus on and contemplate the message.

Very cool. I would have probably taken the thumb out of the shot on the premise that if you can see her thumb through the frame, her face should be visible, as well. But nice concept.

The sky is painted?? Wow, that's really nice and I wouldn't have guessed that ^^
This got me curious from the first moment as I saw the thumbnail.
And I love the sentence in the corner

Very nice shot. Interesting concept and a sweet execution (even though you "screwed up" ) Reminds me of the mirrors to the other world in 'Fringe'

How you do that?!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

akrasiel In reply to Whilexx [2011-06-10 05:38:23 +0000 UTC]

well, the plan was to take two photos, one with the model and one without, and then merge them... but i screwed it up on the photo shoot, so i basically painted the sky into the picture frame with Photoshop

I wonder... did you watch "Meshes of the Afternoon"? The whole mirror as a face thing reminds me of it. Check it out on Youtube if you haven't seen it before. It's pretty short.

Great concept; my only suggestion would be tighter composition around the model to fill more of the frame.

hyperetic [2011-05-24 02:22:26 +0000 UTC]

Interesting concept. I've seen it done in various ways. Yours is a bit different. My only critique or question (if you will) is should the right thumb be in the frame or is the left thumb missing from the frame?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

akrasiel In reply to hyperetic [2011-05-24 19:58:21 +0000 UTC]

Her left thumb was actually not visible in the original shot. I'm not sure where she put it, I think it's pressed against the back of the frame. I thought about taking out the right thumb to match, but then it looked strange to me

CoreyEacret [2011-05-24 01:46:57 +0000 UTC]

Pretty good, I like the idea behind this. The only thing getting me is the thumb sticking up on her right hand. Just seems so odd and out of place And for something like this I would like something closer, but thats just MHO.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

akrasiel In reply to CoreyEacret [2011-05-24 20:03:03 +0000 UTC]

I thought it seemed out of place too, but it looked strange when I removed it. I guess the thing is that I only wanted her face to be removed (because that's so often the key to identity) and without the thumb there, it looked more like there was sky pasted over the frame space instead of her face actually being erased. Maybe I should Photoshop her other thumb in just to balance it out

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CoreyEacret In reply to akrasiel [2011-05-24 20:33:08 +0000 UTC]

I understand the thumb not being there taking from it, but the thumb itself is what seems odd. The position and shape of it, just looks off. Its what makes the photo looked photoshoped. I agree removing it would take away, but the way it is now just looks so odd. I could play around with it for you if you would like. I got nothing else to do tonight
