heh heh heh.... you'd think that if they had bio-chemitries volatile to dihydrogen monoxide (the actual chemical name for pure water) they'd just wear haz mat suits upon arriving....
but then again, war of the worlds had the same huge plot hole, since they could have easily just prevented thier own infections if they had been smart about it.
however, both factors of alien bio hazards that are of no danger to us actually make 100% perfect scientific sense, even if it seems like it wouldn't.
why? well, as evidenced during the pioneer days, natives of what is now called north america died out a lot (<-understatement) from european diseases of the same friggen planet. go figure.
so: no immunity in physiology=almost no survival chance, or perhaps even zero survival chance depending on the disease. (think aliens feel like thier in hell when with a cold? well how about AIDS? ouch.)
and 2. all human hazards of the chemical veriety come from our bodily chemicals, and reactions between to two. lead? check. carbon mono oxide? you bet. nerve gas? literally this fact weaponized.
(and yes, nerve gas does exist, it literally kills by causeing seizures, via blocking the chemo recptors that turn off our nerves, thus they then literally over load and break down. like a power surge no less.)
so, alien bio hazards make perfect sense, different physiology= different body chemical compositon= different reactions= certain species being able to eat lead dust but not calcium, and perhaps even require it for something needed for them to not literally die of malnutrition.
thus, a body that has high levels of needed chemicals to live, but those react a lot with water, like the most notable example: magnesium. water could cause a magneisum rich alien to just fizzle out, literally.
in fact, that's why our own blood is so much thicker than water, (one of the reasons ayway) it needs loads of other stuff to balance out the very small amount of magnesium in that's in there as well.
(note: this alien may just lack this particular trait or an equivalent one, which thus que's it's veins exploding, or worse.... )
thus... well.... the main unbeleiveable-ness quality of this is well..... [link] because things like this in the movies and the like usually make so little
sense they are usually expected to be fake 100% of the time, and results in a huge amount of shock for some when they first find out that it was 100% true (or at least plausible) the whole time. que the screaming of icy sounding terror...

oh, and while i was in science guy mode just now, i forget to mention that is funny. go figure. nice job here.
oh, and any relation to [link] ? or is that just a co-incidence that this vaguely refernces the same movie? (i think )

Actually water can do some serious damage. Ever seen the movie Signs? In it -for some odd reason-
water was like acid to the aliens.

theoretically, it could be because thier blood or other bodily chemistry was high in magnesium, which reacts very vigourously with water,
thus causing thier bodily fluids to literally boil and throb then pop, which would be just a deadly (and agonizing) as it sounds.
although if was main cell structure membrane, perhaps it was a variant of the above or just a neutraliztion (ph scale) reaction that
literally just caused thier cells to detach from one another and just fall apart, which is likely if a lot of fizzing was involved.
(note: since it's water, which is neutral in itself on the ph scale, being a 7 between 1 and 14, it could have just a partial neutralization,
in which the delusion from the water just reduced the acidity or caustic (overly basic, acid's poler opposite but still just as deadly)
to reduce in such a way that it was no longer acidic/basic enough to function properly)
not to mention that a simple single replacemet reaction could have been involved, where it literally just disolved something in thier skin
that was nessesary for thier very survival and required living functions, which obviously would kill them, possibly into a puddle to varing degrees...
this has been a text made by an overthinker of extreeme proportions and exponencially mind blowing omni-disiplinary scientist.

aah, i was thinking more along the lines of Beast Wars, from the 90's.
the energon was blue. apparently it's also green.
