Hey, it's everybody's favorite amphibifish. Lovely work, it's very dramatic.

Superb! I like your imagining of this one. Great coloring and marking. The low viewing angle gives it a majectic appearance. You have made me a fan of this animal.

I´ve just finished reading Jennifer Clack´s "Gaining Ground : The origin and Evolution of Tetrapods" and Neil Shubin´s "Your Inner Fish", so came back to look at your Paleozoic work again for the 4th or 5th time.
Illustrations of this calibre would have made these books even more interesting.
This is my favourite, Alain.
Lovely work - as always.
Spike.

It has been too long since I learned French at school...
What I meant is "Best wishes for the birth of your baby, my friend".

The creature looks very lifelike, but I especially love the forest on the background.

Fantastic! The beast is perfect, and the "antediluvian" atmosphere in the back is lovely!

This pose and angle really makes the creature look courageous, braving the terrestrial world above, while still maintaining a realistic, non-anthropomorphic feeling. Well done!

I wonder if these giant salamanders (so to speak) were as toxic as their modern counterparts?

Why not, but predation chain was not the same during Devonian times as today. Those guys were at the top! So...

I think Heintzichthys preyed on them, as well as Onychodus preyed on them. Not sure. But I think.
