Part 6

Hidden Truths

    As Skilar and Jasmine are rushing Lily to the infirmary you make your way over to team RWBY’s dorm. Not paying attention you end up crashing into someone. The force of the impact caused both of you to skid along the ground a few feet.     “Hey watch where you are going,” the person you crashed into responded.
            “Sorry about that it is just, oh hey Velvet,” you replied as you looked up to see who you ended up crashing into.

            “(Y/N), what are doing out this late”? Velvet asked.

            “One of my teammates ended up hurt pretty badly so my team and I are taking her to the infirmary.”

            “The infirmary is in the opposite direction of where you are headed.”

            “I know that. I was rushing over to team RWBY’s dorm because I have to tell Blake something.”

            “(Y/N), are you talking about the girl with the bow on her head”?

            “Yes. Quick update for you she is a Faunus and what I have to tell her is urgent.”

            “Was she also a member of…?” Velvet tried to ask before you cut her off.

            “Yes she was and I don’t have time to talk right now. Sorry Velvet,” you responded while you proceeded to dash off again.

            As you approached team RWBY’s dorm you noticed that things were quieter than usual. Instinctively you pulled out Triple Justice in its Bo staff form and prepared to defend yourself. After a few seconds of nothing happening you put away Triple Justice and breathe a sigh of relief thinking that you were in the clear.

            With your guard being lowered a person sneaks up on you from behind. They tap your shoulder and in retaliation you throw a punch at the person while you jump a good twelve feet into the air. After landing back on your feet you realize that the person you punched ended up being your girlfriend Blake.

            “What the hell”? Blake asked you in anger while she clutched her nose.

            “Sorry Blake. I didn’t mean to do that. I’m just on edge right now,” you replied apologetically.

            “Why are you on edge”?

            “Someone attacked Lily. She ended up being hurt pretty badly. The sad thing is I think I know who it was that attacked her.”

            “Who would that be”?

            “I think it was Ilia.”

            “It couldn’t have been Ilia; she would never do something like that.”

            “The cuts that were along Lily’s arm were very similar to the ones that I received from Ilia’s whip during that one training session we did together where we were learning Aura control. I think we should tell your teammates the truth about you and I being former members of the White Fang. Maybe they could help us in finding who attacked Lily.”

            “I don’t think we should do that (Y/N).”

            “Why not Blake”?

            “The reason is I don’t want my teammates to know about my involvement in the White Fang.”

    “My teammates know about both of us being in the White Fang.”

    “You told your teammates that we were both in the White Fang”!?

    “I have nothing to hide Blake. Beacon was a fresh start for me. I thought you felt the same way”?

    “I do, but I…” Blake tried to respond while thinking for an excuse at the same time.

    “Forget it Blake. If you can’t help me I know someone who can,” you replied while trying to stifle back tears.

    Running over to the dorm that was across from team RWBY’s you started to bang heavily on the door. After a few seconds the door opened and you were greeted by Jaune. Rubbing his eyes you could tell that Jaune was in the middle of a heavy sleep that you had just woken him up from.

    “Hey is Pyrrha here”? You asked with a very stern tone of voice.

    “Pyrrha couldn’t sleep so she decided to take a walk to the courtyard,” Jaune replied.

    “Thanks Jaune.”

    “Wait why do you need to, oh never mind,” Jaune tried to respond but you were already out of his sight.

    After running like a maniac you finally got to the courtyard. It took you several minutes of searching, but you were finally able to locate Pyrrha, who was sitting on a bench near the fountain in the center of the courtyard. You rapidly waved to Pyrrha hoping to get her attention, but she didn’t notice you. You then proceed to screech like a monkey and that finally managed to get Pyrrha’s attention.

    “(Y/N), what are you doing in the courtyard this late”? Pyrrha asked with a look a quizzical look.

    “Someone attacked Lily.”

    “What”?

    “Someone attacked Lily. When Blake and I got back from our date Lily came staggering into our dorm room with lacerations all over both arms and there was dry blood on her weapon Wolfsbane.”

    “Why didn’t you try to get Blake to help you”?

    “I tried to get Blake’s help, but we kinda had a fight, so I came looking for you Pyrrha,” you replied to Pyrrha’s question while still trying to catch your breath.

    “Why do you want my help (Y/N)”?

    “The reason is you are one of the few people outside of my teammates that I trust here at Beacon. Another reason is you and I have trained together, so I feel comfortable fighting with you.”

    “Do you have any clue on who might have attacked Lily”?

    “I think it was an old friend that Blake and I had when we were in the White Fang.”

    “Who would that…?” Pyrrha attempted to ask before a whip came bursting out of some shrubbery.

    “Ilia show yourself,” you replied with a tone of anger in your voice.

    “So you figured out who attacked your friend that fast didn’t you (Y/N)”? This young woman responded as she walked out of her hiding place.

    The woman who walked out of the shrubbery was about 5 feet 8 inches tall, was wearing a black and navy colored stealth suit. With a tan complexion one could assume that she was from Vacuo. She has brown hair that is tied back in a ponytail and darker spots along the course of her body. The woman was also wearing a Grimm mask that had bad smashed in half.

    “What the hell are you doing here”? You screamed at Ilia with your eyes turning green.

    “I’m here on a mission to eliminate a double agent in the White Fang. Your friend Lily happened to just get in the way of my progress,” Ilia responded with a scowl on her face.

    “Well don’t think you will be getting any mercy from me Ilia. Pyrrha do you think you could give me a hand in dealing with this Faunus”?

    “How is she a Faunus”? Pyrrha asked.

    Before you got a chance to respond Ilia’s skin changed to red and she attacked both you and Pyrrha. You responded by using Triple Justice in its Bo staff form to block her whip attack and then proceeded to acknowledge Pyrrha with a head nod on the plan you two would be using in your fight.

    Ilia tried to blend into the shadows but you shifted Triple Justice into its ninjato form and used the lightning Dust you had located in the hilt to form a bright flash that essentially eliminated Ilia’s stealth advantage. Pyrrha responded by throwing Akouo at Ilia while she was blinded by the flash of light and tried to use her Semblance to catch Ilia off guard by making Akouo bounce off some nearby trees. When the flash died down you noticed that Ilia was no longer around.

    “Dammit she got away,” you cursed aloud.

    “I think I saw her running in the direction of the Emerald Forest,” Pyrrha replied.

    “Then let’s make haste and track that bitch down and make her pay for what she did to Lily,” you responded.

    After running for what seemed like an eternity both you and Pyrrha reached the Emerald Forest. You tried to use your night vision while on top of the cliff to gain a better sight of what was going on. Pyrrha was also using Milo in its rifle form to gain a better vantage point but it was to no avail. Trying to look for a way to spot Ilia you noticed the launch pads that were used for initiation.

    “Pyrrha how is your landing strategy”? You asked Pyrrha causing a look of confusion on her face.

    “Why are you asking that”?

    “We can cover more ground if we look from the air, plus we will be able to catch Ilia off guard if we use the launch pads.

    “I don’t know whether to call that plan genius or borderline insane, but I think I understand what you are saying.”

    Pyrrha rushed over to one of the launch pads but you immediately stopped her when she got to the launch pad you had used during initiation. With a confused look on her face you mentioned that launch pad would be essential to the plan and that you would be using that launch pad yourself. As you tried to activate the control mechanism for the launch pads you noticed that the power supply for the machine had been disabled.

    “Dammit it looks like the launch pads will be out of commission for this plan.” You cursed aloud.

    “What about using your Semblance (Y/N)”?

    “You’re right Pyrrha. My Semblance should get these launch pads working again.”

    While charging your Aura Pyrrha readied herself for the upcoming launch. After a few seconds the machine was back up and running. Giving Pyrrha the thumbs up she was prepared for the launch pad to catapult her into the forest. However, a whip came shooting up from a different part of the Cliffside and destroyed the machine that controlled the launch pads.

    “What the hell”? You yelled with an extreme amount of anger as Ilia disengaged her disguise and you and Pyrrha noticed she was no longer wearing her Grimm mask.

    “I knew that you two would try to follow me so I decided that I would lead you into a trap,” Ilia responded with an arrogant smile.

    “Well the joke is on you, we have you outnumbered and Pyrrha and I should have no problem taking care of you.”

    “Well done Ilia,” this female’s voice rang out.

    “Thank you. I’ll leave these two in your hands,” Ilia replied while slipping back into the shadows.

    Trying to rush after Ilia, you and Pyrrha were pushed back by an unknown force. You tried to use your enhanced speed to rush past the force but it was to no avail. Taking out Triple Justice you tried using its ninjato form plus the remainder of your lightning Dust to get a sneak attack on Ilia, but the force that was preventing you from advancing only grew stronger. You signaled for Pyrrha to use Milo in its rifle form but both of you were pushed back by the mysterious force.

    “We can’t have you children get in the way of our plan,” this female’s voice rang out.

    “Show yourself coward so we can settle this in person,” you called out in a taunting manner.

    “Be careful what you wish for,” the voice responded.

    The ground around you started to shake with trees being flung out of the way as though they were tissue paper. One of the trees started to fly toward you and Pyrrha. Pyrrha rolled out of the way while you used your ninjato cloaked in fire Dust to cut the tree in half while at the same time a massive explosion could be heard plus the crumbling of the ground beneath you and Pyrrha started to give way.

    Pyrrha jumped from the collapsing cliff to one of the nearby trees and tried to steady herself on one of the branches. You shifted Triple Justice to its Bo staff form and used its wind mode to give yourself enough of a boost to land on the ground in front of the crumbling Cliffside. Pyrrha jumped down from the tree and like yourself prepared herself in a defensive stance for the onslaught that was headed your way.

    “Impressive, it seems that I will have to face you guys in person,” the voice rang out again. Just as the voice finished its resonance a woman walked out of a cluster of nearby trees.

    “The woman was about 5 feet 4 inches tall. She was wearing a full head Grimm mask that covered the entirety of her face with only two eye slits visible. The woman was also wearing a white hood and a white cloak with an outfit of a red and black blouse with matching stockings and skirt.

    Who the hell are you”? You yell at the woman.

    “That is for me to know and you to never find out.”

    “Pyrrha go”! You yell out loud.

    Pyrrha nods her head and throws Akouo at the woman. The woman simply sidesteps the attack and then draws her weapon. Pyrrha activating her Semblance causes the Akouo to bounce off of several trees causing each tree to collapse from the damage caused. You then respond to this by activating the fire Dust located in the hilt of your ninjato causing the collapsed trees to burst into flames.

    Thinking that the battle was over both you and Pyrrha started to walk away when an enormous rumbling could be heard. The woman now holding a chain whip raised her hand and caused the trees that were around her to go blasting off into several different directions with a few of the trees almost hitting both you and Pyrrha.

    “How the hell did you do that”? You asked out loud.

    The woman simply looked at you and Pyrrha and began to circle her whip chain around. Pyrrha jumped to the side to dodge the attack but the woman simply using her hand wrapped the chain whip around Pyrrha’s right ankle and lowering her hand caused Pyrrha to slam into the ground leaving a decent sized crater from impact.

    You tried to rush the woman but she used her chain whip which she now had cloaked in ice Dust to strike your arm leaving several lacerations on your arm. She then whipped around and struck you in the chest causing the outfit you were wearing on your date with Blake to rip and a huge slash mark appeared on your chest with a fresh stream of blood pouring out of the wound.

    While you were on the ground Pyrrha used her Semblance and managed to nail the woman in the back of the head with Akouo causing a crack along the side of her mask that ultimately stopped along the left side of her face. Pyrrha then rushed forward and switched Milo to its xiphos form and took several slashes at the woman. In response to Pyrrha’s attach the woman simply used her hand to block the attack and then responded by using her chain whip to wrap itself around Pyrrha’s waist and launched her into the nearby Cliffside with her shimmering red as her Aura had been depleted.

    Seeing Pyrrha lying against the ruined Cliffside caused an extreme amount of anger toward the woman you were fighting. Shifting Triple Justice to its minigun form you tried to unleash a full volley of bullets that were infused with earth Dust on the woman. She simply responded by raising her hand and forcing each individual bullet to miss her and then drop directly on the ground behind her.

    “Son of a bitch,” you cursed aloud.

    “Well it looks like that I overestimated your abilities. I guess now would be a good time as any to put you two out of your misery.”

    The woman raised her hand and lowered it causing an intense screaming to come from Pyrrha. Not knowing what was going on you tried to rush over to where Pyrrha was when you felt that you were no longer on the ground.

    “We can’t be having any of that young man.”

    The woman then proceeded to slam you on the ground repeatedly while you heard Pyrrha start screaming louder and louder. Not knowing how you were going to get out of this situation you were surprised when an older student came crashing down on the woman with a sword that reminded you of Lily’s weapon Wolfsbane in its buster sword mode.

    Now distracted the woman attempted to block the sword but was forced to dodge when another older looking student came rushing at her attempting several slashes. The woman jumped out of the way only to a female student with a Gatling gun shooting at her. The woman trying to use her whip chain to catch the three off guard was then struck by an attack from a Faunus that you recognized as your cousin Velvet. The woman now starting to feel overwhelmed responded by placing her hand on the ground and the mysterious force you felt earlier caused everyone to be launched back several dozen feet.

    “(Y/N) are you alright”? Velvet asked.

    “Yeah I can honestly say I’m glad you guys were here to save my ass. Do you think you can handle her? I need to go over and check on Pyrrha.”

    “No problem (Y/N).”

    Rushing over to Pyrrha you put your hand on her hand to see if she still had a pulse. While faint you breathed a sigh of relief when you found out that she was still alive. You, however, felt that Pyrrha was starting to get very cold.

    “My leg,” Pyrrha muttered incomprehensively.

    “What Pyrrha”?

    “My leg, she used her Semblance to crush the bones in my right leg.”

    “I’m sorry Pyrrha I didn’t know that Ilia was leading us into a trap. I didn’t know that this woman would be waiting here to ambush us. I can’t lose anyone else, you have to make it through,” you replied while bawling your eyes out.

    “Don’t worry about me, finish the fight,” Pyrrha responded in a very shaky and almost raspy voice.

    “You’re right I’m going to make that bitch pay,” you responded while wiping the tears from your eyes.

    While Velvet and her team were keeping the woman at bay you signaled for Velvet to come over. You decided to tell Velvet what was going on and then you two formed a plan that you think would allow you to defeat the woman that you guys were fighting.

    With the rest of Velvet’s team rushing at the woman you separated Triple Justice into its ninjato form and had Velvet take several pictures of it. You also did the same for its minigun and Bo staff forms as well. You then agreed with Velvet that you would signal when she would attack with her new pictures.

    After a couple minutes of fighting Velvet’s teammate who had the Gatling gun ran out of ammo and was forced to retract her weapon back into its handbag form. Knowing that the woman would be most vulnerable at this moment, you shot an orb of fire into the air which exploded and managed to catch everyone but you and Velvet off-guard. Velvet rushed forward and using the pictures she took of Triple Justice manifested a light copy of its Bo staff form and started to repeatedly land hits on the woman.

    The woman tried to raise her hand to separate Velvet from her weapon only to realize that her Semblance didn’t work on Velvet’s light copies. This caused the woman to attempt using her chain whip to stop Velvet’s attacks. You took advantage of the situation and using the remainder of your wind Dust smashed your ninjato on the point in the front where Pyrrha caused the crack to occur. This in turn caused the woman’s mask to shatter with part of her black hair being revealed and the eyehole to shatter revealing that she had a silver eye.

    “You kids are starting to get on my nerves. I guess it is time that I stop playing around and start getting serious,” the woman responded until her Scroll went off.

    The woman picked up her Scroll and you could see that her silver eye was trembling in fear when she heard the voice on the other end. The woman quickly placed her hand on the ground and caused several trees to collapse in front of you and Velvet’s team. A large amount of dust that was launched into the air functioned as a shroud as the woman made her escape. Breathing a sigh of relief you guys now turned your attention to Pyrrha who was barely breathing at this point.

    As you and Velvet’s team who you learned were call team CFVY and their names were Coco, Fox and Yatsuhashi, made your way into the infirmary to meet up with Skilar and Jasmine you started to ponder about the what the mysterious woman you faced in the Emerald Forest was planning. Once you reached the infirmary you saw that both teams RWBY and the remainder of team JNPR were there as well.

    “What happened to you”? Blake asked with a great amount of concern before you put your hand on her shoulder trying to comfort her.

    “Pyrrha and I got into a fight with Ilia. She led us to the Emerald Forest where Pyrrha and I were outmatched by this woman whose Semblance easily made short work of us. If team CFVY hadn’t stepped in when they did I believe that both Pyrrha and I would be dead.”

    “Where is Pyrrha anyway”? Jaune asked.

    “She had to be taken to a hospital; her leg was seriously injured in our fight with the woman. I should also let you guys know that the woman looked like Ruby. She also had silver eyes like Ruby as well.”

    “It can’t be”? Ruby thought to herself.

    “Hey little Jazzy is that you”? Coco asked breaking the silence that was brought upon the mentioning about the woman’s intents.

    “Coco please don’t call me that in front of my friends, but yeah its me. Wait are you still wearing that beret I made you over five years ago”? Jasmine replied with her face turning slightly red out of embarrassment.

    “Yeah, it is my favorite thing to wear. After all, you are the one who made it for me,” Coco responded.

    “Well I have something I want to tell everyone and I know you may be against it Blake, but I…” You tried to respond before Blake interrupted you.

    “Go ahead and tell the (Y/N). I’m tired of running away whenever a problem presents itself,” Blake replied in confidence.

    “Something that Blake and I never told you guys with the exception of me telling my teammates is that we use to be in the White Fang together.”

    Expecting everyone to hate your guts after what you told them you were surprised that everyone seemed to be keeping a level head about the situation. This caused confusion to both you and Blake. Even more surprising is that Weiss was the first person to respond to the news.

    “I kind of figured you guys were part of the White Fang. In the last two weeks whenever you guys were asked where you two met each other you were very dodgy about the subject. Plus Lily told us while you two were on your date.”

    “You know what I’m not even angry about Lily doing that. I think in a way she has just brought us all even closer together. All I ask is that when something major comes up we don’t try to face it alone we try to face it as friends.”

    “I agree with you (Y/N),” Velvet yelled out making you realize that team CFVY was still in the room.

    “Do you guys think you can keep a secret”? You asked team CFVY.

    “Of course,” Velvet, Yatsuhashi and Coco all agreed in concert.

    “What about you Fox”?

    “Yeah Fox doesn’t talk very much,” Coco responded.

    “Oh yeah I almost forgot everyone this is my cousin Velvet.”

    “Hello, it is nice to meet everyone.”

    As Velvet finished introducing herself to everyone Lily began to thrash about wildly while she regained consciousness. Everyone turned around when Lily finally woke up. Lily looked around and then saw everyone in the infirmary.

    “What happened”? Lily asked while you filled her in on what had happened the last few hours.

    “So that is pretty much what happened.”

    “Ok good to know. If I must say that is a lot to take in.”

    “All I ask is that there be no secrets kept between us friends.”

    “Ok since that is the case there is something important I have to tell you guys.”

    “What would that be Lily”? Skilar, Jasmine and yourself asked at once.

    “I never officially left the White Fang.”
