When a monster you control is targeted for an attack by an opponent's monster: Activate this card by targeting those monsters; make them unable to be destroyed by that battle, and if you do, from the end of the Damage Step until the 2nd Standby Phase of each player's next turn, they are treated as if they are not on the field, they have their effects negated, cannot attack, nor be targeted for attacks or by card effects. Destroy this card during your opponent's 2nd Standby Phase after this card's activation.

So since this prevents the monsters from being targeted for attacks, would they prevent direct attacks or could the opponent attack directly with another monster if your only monster is one of these targets?
I know it worked like that in the movie, but would it work like that in real life?

It doesn't have the ''but it does not prevent your opponent from attacking you directly.'' like Altergeist Camouflage, so yeah they can't attack directly.

It's definitely a neat card but it would be confusing as all Shadow Realm to play with or against in my opinion.
