Anyway.. critique!
First off is always composition. I really like it. The slightly lower angle really works, and this coupled with his upward stare really creates the young and inquisitive feeling that makes this work so well. It's also nice you haven't cropped off any of the ears (which I know you hate to do anyway...). I like the diagonals created by the tinsel too, though I would have probably liked to see a bit more of it. I also feel that it looks slightly too far right for me. I know that you were trying to include the whiskers in the shot, but because they're white on a white background you really don't see them enough to make that composition work as well as it could. Could you try darkening them a bit?
Colour wise it's also really nice. I love the contrast between the darker fur colours and the red of the tinsel, and the focus on the eyes is absolutely amazing. The detail in those is so good, and they really draw you into the shot. Great bright colours too, which contrast to the muted colours of the fur and tinsel.
My only slight jibe about the focus is the ear. I really would prefer that ear in perfect focus, so maybe a larger F stop (say... F8? e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="
Other than that it's a REALLY nice shot, and nice to see him once in a while!!

I wasn't so much trying to include the whiskers, the composition is like that to give ample space around him, as well as this I was trying to keep the bottom of the tinsel in. I also had another shot which the composition is more like how you want, but it didn't work because you saw too much body which made the composition feel unbalanced.
I could darken the whiskers but it wouldn't look right, his whiskers are bright white.
Nothing can be done about the lights, you always need a catch light in the eye otherwise the image is dead.. Maybe they would have worked better if they where higher in the eye, but holding the lights higher would have caused a horrible shadow under the chin

He doesn't like to pose that much, he usually prefers to sit by my side then in front of the camera! Luckily he posed really well for this shot, I'm pretty shocked
